I went into these books with very specific expectations 📖😅 What I thought I’d love, what I didn’t expect at all, and how everything flipped once I finished… here’s how I actually ended up ranking them.

Just got back from Madrid and yes I went a little crazy with the vintage books! 📚✨

Tomorrow, I was planning to rank my romance reads of 2026, but honestly, I’m feeling a book haul coming on instead. 😅 I NEED to talk about my new finds (because no one else around me cares lol).

Feels like this is the whole point of my BookTube channel - to find my people to geek out over books for hours! 😆 Who’s with me? 🙌

P.S. The quick vlog about my book shopping adventure is out on my channel! 🎥

🌟Book Review: Thirst for Love by Yukio Mishima

Thirst for Love by Yukio Mishima has left a profound impression on me. Although it appears to be a book one might read in a single sitting, it was not so for me. It took some time to acclimate to Mishima’s distinctive writing style - rich in intricate details and reminiscent of poetry….

However, once I reached the final 60 pages, I simply could not put the book down. I was desperate to discover how the story would unfold. The narrative gripped me deeply, leaving me shaken and lingering in my thoughts long after I finished.

In terms of enjoyment, I would rate it four stars, but for its uniqueness and literary artistry, it unquestionably deserves five. After reading it, I feel that each reader will take away something uniquely personal from this haunting and beautiful story.

🌟Book Review: The Frozen River by Ariel Lawhon

The Frozen River ❄️📖 is deeply immersive, thoughtful, and completely transporting. It took me weeks to finish (way slower than my usual pace ⏳), but that felt intentional. I genuinely can’t find a single drawback - this is historical fiction at its absolute best.

The book that left me most impressed by its writing in 2025 was On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous by Ocean Vuong…

What made the experience strange is that I still don’t know whether I liked it, how to rank it, or even how I feel about it. There were moments when the metaphors were so beautiful I never wanted it to end, and others when I almost wanted to skim.

But overall, when a book is truly unique, you don’t always need to like it - you just need to experience it ❤️ #bookishlife
