For those who want to avoid Spaying for Biblical reasons or because of the usual personality changes or because of the 3.3 % risk of death involved with the surgery... there are ways of handling these 2x a year 3-4 week heat ( estrus ) cycles. Just make sure to walk your dog several times a day in your fenced yard on a leash. .. ... and of course your dog can be in the house also... on a hard floor that can be cleaned easily.
