Twelve Years, One Decision, A Lifetime of Difference Twelve years ago, Sangeeta stood at a crossroads, new to Gurugram, uncertain, and hesitant to trust a school she barely knew. She enrolled her three children at Lotus Petal, then pulled them out just as quickly. It took our Founder, Kushal, sitting with her, listening to her fears, and helping her see what a nurturing environment could mean for her children's future, to bring them back. That decision changed everything. Today, Kajal walks into her job at Concentrix, not as a girl who once left a classroom in doubt, but as a young woman who has climbed the first rung of a ladder her mother once feared to trust. She is just beginning to earn, and soon, she will stand tall as a provider for her family. She stands as proof that education isn't just about literacy ,it's about dignity, direction, and the quiet courage to begin again. Because real transformation was never about changing circumstances. It was about changing what a mother believed was possible for her.

From Hands to Heart: The Quiet Revolution of Bindu Ten years ago, in a modest kitchen in Silokhera with barely any equipment, a young woman began her journey with nothing but patience and a quiet belief, that feeding a child well could change the shape of their future. That woman was Bindu. Over the decade, as Lotus Petal Foundation grew, building infrastructure, gathering resources, becoming the thriving community it is today, Bindu grew alongside it. Every year added new tools to her kitchen, but what never changed was the intention behind her work: to nourish, to care, to show up fully for the children she feeds. What makes Bindu extraordinary isn't the years of service alone. It's the philosophy she lives by, the one she offered so simply when felicitated with a bouquet of flowers: "I cook at my house also, I cook here also. It feels the same." In those few words lies a profound truth about purpose: when work stops feeling like labor and starts feeling like love, it stops being a job, it becomes identity. Bindu doesn't cook for our students. She cooks for her own, because in her heart, there is no difference between the two.

This is what changemaking truly looks like, not grand declarations, but a decade of showing up with humility, consistency, and an open heart. Bindu reminds us that some of the deepest social impact isn't measured in policies or funding, but in warmth given freely, day after day, without ever asking for applause.

Thank you, Bindu, for teaching us that the truest revolutions are built with humility, sustained with dedication, and offered with a smile.

Twelve Years, One Decision, A Lifetime of Difference

Twelve years ago, Sangeeta stood at a crossroads, new to Gurugram, uncertain, and hesitant to trust a school she barely knew.

She stands as proof that education isn't just about literacy, it's about dignity, direction, and the quiet courage to begin again.

Because real transformation was never about changing circumstances. It was about changing what a mother believed was possible for her daughter. It was about changing what Kajal believed was possible for herself.

The change we speak of doesn't arrive from outside. It rises from within, and finds its way out into the world, one life at a time.

Kajal's story is one thread in the larger fabric of Lotus Petal, a school built not just on syllabi and structure, but on second chances, and the belief that every child deserves the room to become who they're meant to be.

This is what transformation looks like. This is why we do what we do.

Transformation begins within. Meditation is not an activity reserved for special occasions at Lotus Petal Senior Secondary School. It is woven into the rhythm of every school day. For forty minutes, every student pauses. In a world that constantly asks children to move faster, think quicker, and do more, these forty minutes create space to simply be- t𝗼 𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲, 𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁 with themselves. It is a small practice, but one that grows quietly over time, nurturing focus, emotional awareness, resilience, and a sense of calm that extends far beyond the classroom. The earlier children are introduced to this practice, the more naturally it becomes a part of who they are. Just as academic concepts are strengthened through consistency, so are habits that shape character, emotional well-being, and the ability to navigate life with balance. Recently, the Teacher Changemakers participated in a session exploring the foundations of meditation- its purpose, its significance, and the role it plays in a child

Every child learns differently.

Assessment is often associated with marks, scores, and performance. But in the early years, its purpose is far more meaningful.

Recently, the AQA team conducted a Reading Assessment for the Primary Wing students, not to judge how much they know, but to understand where they are in their learning journey.

Reading is one of the most fundamental skills a child develops. It shapes comprehension, communication, curiosity, and confidence, becoming the foundation upon which future learning is built. Assessing reading at an early stage helps identify each child's strengths, recognise areas where additional support may be needed, and ensure that learning experiences are tailored to help every student progress with confidence.

When assessments are used as a tool for understanding rather than comparison, they become an opportunity to improve learning outcomes, not just for individual students, but for classrooms as a whole.

Because the goal isn't to measure children against a benchmark. It's to ensure every child receives the support they need to reach their own potential, one step at a time.

Strengthening our classrooms by investing in our educators. As Lotus Petal Senior Secondary School begins a new academic chapter, our Teacher Changemakers returned to school with renewed energy, ideas, and a shared commitment towards creating a positive learning environment for every child. The first Learning & Development session of this journey was conducted by Ms. Srividya Sridhar on “Building a Positive and Holistic School Culture.” The session encouraged educators to reflect on the many elements that shape a school culture, from collaboration and communication to creating spaces where students and teachers feel connected, supported, and inspired to grow. A strong school ecosystem is built every day through the collective efforts of its people. For our Teacher Changemakers, this session was an opportunity to learn, reflect, and align around the shared vision of creating meaningful experiences for children. At Lotus Petal Foundation, continuous learning and development remain an important part of strength. ‪@lotuspetalfoundation‬

The Changemakers of Vidya Sahyog came together for a Chai Pe Charcha, a space to connect, share experiences, and reflect on the journey of adapting to a new way of working. From transitioning from a traditional office setup to a hybrid work environment, the conversation explored the experiences, challenges, and learnings that came along the way. The team shared what has worked well, areas where support can make the transition smoother, and ideas to create a more seamless and connected work experience. Beyond work, the conversation also brought moments of connection as the Changemakers shared stories from their summer breaks and experiences outside of work. Meaningful conversations build stronger teams, creating spaces where people can share, listen, and learn from each other helps us continue to grow together. ‪@lotuspetalfoundation‬

A uniform today. A responsibility for tomorrow.

At Lotus Petal Foundation, sustainability is woven into the way we think, work, and create impact.
We believe that every resource carries value, and with mindful care, it can continue to serve beyond its first purpose. Our commitment to reducing waste reflects in the small but meaningful choices we make every day: using responsibly, reusing thoughtfully, and preserving what matters.

As part of this practice, our winter uniforms are not simply set aside after the season ends. They are carefully collected, washed, maintained, and stored with care, ready to be passed on to the next batch of students when winter returns.

This initiative is a step towards reducing unnecessary consumption, managing resources wisely, and building a culture where maintenance and responsibility matter.

Because at Lotus Petal Foundation, sustainability is not just about saving resources, it is about nurturing values that last.
