One thing living in the Philippines has taught me: you learn to adapt. 🇵🇭

Depending on where you live in this country, the challenges can be completely different.

Here in Butuan, our electricity is actually pretty reliable. Sure, we have occasional brownouts, but thankfully we don’t normally experience the all-day outages that some parts of the Philippines deal with.

Water, however, is a different story. 💧

When I first moved into my place, there were days when I only had running water for a couple of hours. Some areas around Butuan have very limited water—or sometimes none at all.

So rather than continually fighting the problem, we found a solution.

We installed a roughly 1,300-liter water tank and pump system, giving me a substantial reserve when the city supply isn’t available. Since then we’ve also added access to a deep well, so water is no longer something I spend much time worrying about.

And I think there’s a bigger lesson in that.

Living in another country sometimes requires a shift in mindset. Things aren’t necessarily going to work the way you’re accustomed to back home. You can spend your time being frustrated by that—or figure out what the local challenges are and adapt.

Maybe where you live it’s a water tank. Somewhere else it might be solar power, a backup battery, better internet, or something completely different.

Adapt. Find a solution. Then get back to enjoying the reasons you came here in the first place. 😊🇵🇭

🇵🇭🏍️ Only in the Philippines… the license plate situation is changing again!

When I first moved to the Philippines, one of the strangest things for me as an American was buying a motorcycle and discovering that you didn't necessarily get an actual license plate with it. 😂

You could wait months—or much longer—for the official plate. In the meantime, riders would have temporary plates made. Heck, I remember going to the mall and having a plate printed! That was just part of owning a motorcycle here.

Starting September 1, the LTO has begun stricter enforcement against unauthorized improvised and replica plates. There are legitimate situations where an improvised plate can still be used, but it needs to follow the LTO rules and authorization requirements.

It's another one of those little things about living in the Philippines that you probably wouldn't understand until you've actually lived here.

🇵🇭 Manila — I’m Coming Your Way!

Hey everyone! Just booked a quick trip to Manila for early September.

✈️ I’ll arrive Thursday, September 3rd and will be attending the Philippine Travel Mart at the SMX Convention Center near Mall of Asia on Friday, September 4th. I’ll probably be back at the Travel Mart on Saturday as well before flying home to Butuan on Sunday.

I’m really looking forward to checking out the expo, making some new connections, and seeing what interesting destinations around the Philippines I might be able to explore and share with you guys in future videos.

🌎 EARTHQUAKE IN BUTUAN!

Well, that was interesting! 😳

We just had a pretty good-sized earthquake here in Butuan City at around 5:15 PM today, August 21. I’m in the middle of playing pickleball and the ground definitely started shaking!

I figured the safest place to be was out in the open — and I went ahead and slipped on my motorcycle helmet just for a little extra insurance. 😂🏍️

And this might be the most Philippines thing ever…

Less than five minutes later, everybody was back to playing pickleball. 😂🏓

Everything seems to be back to normal here. Hopefully everyone around Mindanao is safe. I’ll update this once PHIVOLCS releases the official details.

I love that.

I think it's incredibly easy to spend our lives comparing ourselves to other people. Are we successful enough? Are we good enough? Does what we're doing matter? What will other people think?

Creating this channel has reminded me that maybe those aren't always the questions we need to answer.

Sometimes our job is simply to keep showing up. Keep creating. Keep exploring. Keep sharing what we see and experience in our own unique way.

There will never be another you. There will never be another me. And whatever each of us has to contribute can only come through us.

So maybe we don't need to judge it quite so much.

**Just keep the channel open. ❤️**

Just another simple morning living here in Butuan City, Philippines. 🇵🇭

Finished up my workout at Thor’s Gym this morning and made my usual post-gym stop for some food and coffee. 💪☕

Chicken teriyaki with rice and vegetables, a warm Americano, and a little time to just sit and enjoy the morning.

One of the things I’ve really come to appreciate about living in Butuan is the quieter, simpler pace of life. Not every day needs to be a big motorcycle adventure or some incredible destination.

Sometimes a good workout, a good meal, a cup of coffee, and a peaceful morning are more than enough. 😊

Well… this escalated quickly. 😂🏍️✈️

Yesterday I found out about the Moto Expo of Cebu happening this weekend.

Today I booked the flight and hotel.

Tomorrow I’m flying to Cebu. 😎

And here’s the part that surprised me — I booked this entire trip at the LAST MINUTE, and the cost of getting to Cebu and staying for two nights was way less than I expected.

I’ve got a new video coming out tomorrow, Friday, August 14 at 6:15 PM 🇵🇭, where I’ll show you exactly what I paid and talk about something I don’t cover very often: air travel in the Philippines vs. traveling by motorcycle and ferry.

Then it’s off to the expo on Saturday! 🏍️

I’m especially excited to see what Webike has at the show since I’ve sourced quite a few parts for the KLX230 Sherpa through them.

This should be a FUN weekend.

And yes… the cameras are coming with me. 🎥😂

Sometimes you just have to stop and take it all in. 🌅🏍️

Went out for one of my evening rides tonight on the KLX230 Sherpa and ended up catching this view.

No big destination. No real plan. Just riding some backroads, exploring a little, and watching the sun disappear behind the mountains of Mindanao.

These are the rides I love most. You head out with absolutely no idea what you’re going to find… and somehow the Philippines gives you something like this.

Not a bad way to end the day. 😊

Just another evening trail ride in Mindanao. 🇵🇭

I came across this farmer and his carabao preparing a rice field for planting and had to stop for a photo.

This is one of the things I love about riding the backroads here. I can leave the house with absolutely no destination and come across scenes like this — people simply going about their everyday lives in a way that’s probably been happening here for generations.

For me, this is every bit as beautiful as the mountains, beaches and sunsets.

One of the things I love most about living here is that rides like this have become part of everyday life.

Some evenings I don’t really have a destination. I just grab the Sherpa, head down a dirt road, and see where it takes me.

Beautiful mountains, rice fields, palm trees… and plenty of friendly smiles along the way.

It’s hard to believe this is just another evening ride.
