* Written for Julian: ‪@PaulMcCartney‬ originally wrote the song as "Hey Jools" to comfort John Lennon’s young son, Julian, during his parents' divorce.

* John Saved the Best Line: Paul planned to change the line "The movement you need is on your shoulder," but John Lennon insisted it was the best lyric in the song and convinced him to keep it.

* Ringo's Restroom Dash: While recording the master take, Paul started playing the piano intro without realizing Ringo had briefly stepped away to the restroom. Ringo had to frantically tiptoe and sprint back to his drum booth, arriving just in time for his iconic drum entrance—with timing Paul later described as "absolutely impeccable."

Abbey Road is one of my favorite albums, and I come back to it often. I usually listen to the original recording, but sometimes I prefer to experience it through these fan performances.

I love these gatherings at Strawberry Fields because they truly demonstrate the enduring love and power of The Beatles' music. People travel from near and far to participate in these sing-along celebrations. They bring guitars, basses, tambourines, drum kits, keyboards, songbooks, amps, and lights. The entire production is 100% fan-organized. These are friends, strangers, and strangers who have become friends over the years, all gathering in the park to joyfully perform the music of The Beatles. Events like this are easily one of the coolest things you will see on the streets of NYC.

I look around and see all ages, men and women, various races and nationalities. It’s a pretty powerful sight, and right then, I don't have to "imagine all the people" because I am looking at them right before my eyes. In those musical moments, we achieve a true brotherhood of man.

Not only are they performing Beatles' songs, they are performing them as complete works like Abbey Road. The love of the music sparking the ambition to perform and get through the whole album. For those of you who watch the whole video, I know your heads were bobbing on “Come Together”! You had to be swaying on “Something”! You absolutely were singing full pipes on “Oh! Darling”! Tell me you were not smiling and perhaps a little misty by the time the band and crowd get to "Golden Slumbers" and they’re heading for home!

​⁠‪@TheBeatles‬ have received riches and every accolade known in music and pop culture—and deservedly so! Having achieved all of that success, I believe that ​⁠ ‪@PaulMcCartney‬ and ‪@ringostarr‬ ​⁠ (and ​⁠‪@johnlennon‬ and ​⁠ ‪@GeorgeHarrisonOfficial‬, were they still with us) would feel the most gratification from seeing a video like this.

Looking at all the smiling singing faces, I would say you passed the audition! Well done, lads!
