Before taking my first cruise, I had no idea where to start. I had very little knowledge of the industry overall, and I had no idea 'how to cruise'. One thing was clear - there were so many things that could go wrong.
As soon as I boarded my first cruise ship, I knew immediately that this was a way to see the world that I believed in, and then my YouTube channel was born.
Here at 'Fraser at Sea', I want to use my channel to help you to plan and have the best cruise possible. I share with you my cruise and travel tips, take you away with me in my vlogs, and aim to hopefully immerse you in the experiences as we go.

I absolutely LOVE visiting this place by cruise ship - the main town is right at the end of the most stunning Fjord, and it just doesn’t look real! 🤯 From the ‘open ocean’, it’ll take at least an hour for your cruise ship to reach town - if you ever cruise here, plan to wake up early to see something pretty special… 🤩 ⛰️

What’s the food like when you cruise with Norwegian Cruise Line? Well, here’s my dinner last night to show you what I’m seeing onboard Norwegian Pearl at the moment… 👀 🛳️

Last night, I ate at ‘La Cucina’, which is the speciality Italian restaurant that you’ll find across the NCL fleet. In my most recent YouTube video, I told you that I enjoyed this venue on my recent NCL Epic cruise, but I wasn’t totally ‘sold’ on the value of it when looking at the cover charge… 💰

Here’s what I ordered last night: I started with the Spaghetti Carbonara, and then ordered the Meat Lovers pizza before finishing off with the Ricotta Cheesecake for dessert. 😊
.
I used my ‘Free at Sea’ dining package that I purchased before the cruise, but the cover charge to dine here if I didn’t have that would be $40pp (plus a 20% service charge), so really $48. Do I think it’s worth that? Well, I’ll fill you in properly on YouTube in due course, but I’m still not fully sold… 🙄 My pizza was SO similar to what I can get from the buffet - yes, that means it’s a good buffet pizza, but I was expecting something totally different when it’s in an upcharge restaurant. 🍕

Santorini, you beauty! 🤩 🇬🇷

The first port of call on this 7-night cruise was Santorini, which is still among my favourite ports of call on an Adriatic cruise. We had a really busy port today, as we were sharing the island with MSC Armonia and Celebrity Infinity, but I opted for a hike that escaped the crowds VERY QUICKLY! 👏🏼

I hiked to Oia, and then back to the cruise port - it’s about 10km each way, so I reckon I’ve earned my ice cream back on the ship this afternoon… 🍦

Welcome to my ‘home from home’ this cruise - what do you think? 👀 🛳️

I’m staying in what’s known as an ‘Obstructed Oceanview Stateroom’ on Deck 8 of the ship, which puts me directly behind the lifeboats. On paper, this is among the ‘worst’ cabins on the ship - I won’t tell you why right now, otherwise you’d probably be able to guess my exact cabin number… 😂

I’m actually really enjoying the daylight from the window, and although fully obstructed, I CAN see out over the top of the lifeboat, so I do know where we are at any given time! 👀 I also really like the layout of this cabin - it’s so different to most of the others I’ve had in the past! 😮 I’ll be creating a full cabin review for YouTube in a few weeks! 👌🏻

48 hours after returning home from my first ever expedition cruise around Svalbard, I’ve re-packed, got back to the airport, and have now arrived ready to join my next ship! 🙂
.
Tomorrow, I’ll be boarding Norwegian Pearl for a 7-night cruise from Piraeus (about 30 minutes outside of Athens) to Ravenna (the cruise port for Venice). This will be my first time on one of the older Norwegian Cruise Line ships, so I’m excited to see how Pearl is going to differ to her much newer fleet mates that I’ve cruised on previously… 🤔🛳️

Tonight’s plan is to settle into the city (and the heat!), before then heading to the port in the morning. Next stop, NCL Pearl! 👏🏼
