Before taking my first cruise, I had no idea where to start. I had very little knowledge of the industry overall, and I had no idea 'how to cruise'. One thing was clear - there were so many things that could go wrong.
As soon as I boarded my first cruise ship, I knew immediately that this was a way to see the world that I believed in, and then my YouTube channel was born.
Here at 'Fraser at Sea', I want to use my channel to help you to plan and have the best cruise possible. I share with you my cruise and travel tips, take you away with me in my vlogs, and aim to hopefully immerse you in the experiences as we go.

Kew Gardens... WOW! 🪴🤩

If you've followed me for a while, you'll probably know that I absolutely LOVE gardening when I'm at home. I love spending time out there, but I don't have a huge amount of knowledge, so it always blows my mind when I visit a good professional gardens to see what they're able to do! 🤯

Kew Gardens is in London (it's why I've been here this week - hence the hotel photos in my last update), and it's home to over 50,000 living plants. Yes - 50,000 - that's quite a few more than my garden... Ha! 🌲🌳🌴
.
It's been so warm in the U.K. this Summer (especially around here), so things like the grass are completely gone. The plants do seem to be doing so well though - I guess they're not having to work very hard this Summer to create a tropical atmosphere for the plants and trees that are more used to much warmer climates...! ☀🫠

Welcome to my 'home from home' this week in a VERY WARM London...! 👀🫠

As you know, I like showing you where I'm staying when I'm on little 'land trips', in addition to when I'm 'at sea'. This week, I've been trying out 'Spark by Hilton' in Chiswick (an area of London that I love)! 😍

I'm always fascinated by the Hilton brand - I love all of their little sub-brands, and how different they all are. 'Spark' is described as their 'Premium Economy' product, and it operates at a much lower price point than their full Hilton-brand properties. 🧐

I paid £72 (just under $100 USD) for my single room here for the night, which I felt was an absolute bargain for something of this quality in this area of London. What do you think - would you stay here, or would you opt for elsewhere? 🤔

Should we have to pay to view a natural waterfall? 🤔

The next stop on my whistlestop tour of this corner of Wales was Swallow Falls, which is a famous waterfall on the River Llugwy just outside Betws-y-Coed (where I’ve been staying while here). 🏴
.
It’s such an impressive sight, but I do have to say that it was incredibly disappointing to have to pay £2 per head to see the waterfall. 😔 You need to scan your credit card on a contactless reader to get through the turnstile to see the waterfall, which is something I’ve never seen before - have you? 🤔
.
I bet it generates plenty of revenue, which I hope benefits the local area, but I can’t imagine this sort of thing being implemented somewhere like Scotland… 😮 I grew up in a family of 5, and so it would cost my parents £10 to bring us to see this, and it would only occupy us for a few minutes…

This week, I visited Harlech Beach on the Welsh coast, and I was reminded why I love the coast so much. Isn’t there something just SO healthy and ‘good for you’ about being near the water? 🤩 🌊

It’s actually pretty rare for me to get to the British coast - I live multiple hours away from it in any direction, so I absolutely LOVED this place! 👏🏼 🏴

This has been my first time properly visiting Wales, and it’s been so interesting to see a totally ‘new’ part of the U.K. this week. 👏🏼

This hotel’s been great - here are a few photos to show you around. I don’t think I’ve ever stayed in a room with SO MANY BEDS. I actually don’t know if I’ve ever checked into a hotel room and randomly found bunk beds in the room! 😂

I visited here last year, and I had no idea it was so beach-y (if that’s even a word…). After a few hours wandering around the marina and the old town, I found the beach and it was absolutely glorious! 🤩 If you’re planning to cruise to Split, you really should add the beach here to your ‘to do’ list! 🏝️ 👏🏼

Also, before anyone comments this, my outfit today was entirely unplanned. I didn’t realise when I was getting dressed in the morning that I would be wearing exactly the same colour as the city’s buildings… 🤦🏻♂️ 😂

I absolutely LOVE visiting this place by cruise ship - the main town is right at the end of the most stunning Fjord, and it just doesn’t look real! 🤯 From the ‘open ocean’, it’ll take at least an hour for your cruise ship to reach town - if you ever cruise here, plan to wake up early to see something pretty special… 🤩 ⛰️
