From debilitating phobia to the pilot's seat. I used to spend days psyching myself up just to board a holiday flight. In 2013, a life-changing invite from my manager at EE/BT to fly out of Cardiff Airport changed everything. By October 2020 (after 7 1/2 years of training), I officially earned my Private Pilot’s Licence (PPL)—fighting through severe anxiety mid-lesson to get there.On this channel, I share my journey, aviation insights, and how tech helps me conquer the skies.
What I Do:
Aviation: PPL(A) holder and CAA-qualified Commercial Drone Pilot.
Simulation: Avid VR SIMmer using X-Plane 12/MSFS 2024 for real-world navigation prep.
Media: Founder of Severn FM Radio (broadcasting since June 2011).
Tech: Mobile Networks Ops, Unix, Home Assistant, VMs, Anything with an aerial or screen...the list goes on... 😊
Passions: Reiki II practitioner, licensed Radio Ham, and piano by ear.

We've made the decision not to travel to Shobdon today and livestream. The forecast is not great for wind, rain and cloudbase and it's a long drive. We are really dissapoointed.

I’m very sorry to say that today’s livestream from Gloucestershire Airport is cancelled. While the morning skies look promising, the ground behind the Aviator is saturated after heavy overnight rain, and the wind forecast later today isn’t ideal for filming (or flying in my opinion that is).
I’ve been watching the hourly updates closely, and with gusts forecast to reach nearly 40 mph around lunchtime, it’s just not the right setup for a safe or enjoyable stream. It takes a good 90 minutes to setup and I know many of you were looking forward to it, I was too, but I’d rather pause than push through poor conditions.
Thanks for your understanding, and I’ll aim to reschedule when the weather plays ball. Stay tuned and stay safe.

I was up at the Aviator today doing a site survey, and the field behind it is absolutely soaked. With the forecast ice on the way, I’ve decided to play it safe and cancel tomorrow’s livestream from Gloucestershire Airport. It’s a shame, because it actually looks like a cracking flying day, so I may still nip up and film instead.
If you want it a bit more formal, more casual, or more “social‑media punchy,” I can tune it.
