I'm a hobbyist woodworker who loves hand tools and I share my experience here.

I was like once a year DIYer and I just happened to make a wooden PC case in 2021, which is my first YouTube video here.
Ever since then, I started to like woodworking and video making and gradually developed both skills.
Thank you for reading here and I'll appreciate if you subscribe my channel.

I've launched a Discord community for those who want to support my YouTube channel. There's a very small contribution needed to join, as little as $0.01 the information is in the link.

This my channel description is updated in Jan 2025 but if you are my old subscriber, don't worry, I know what was written here:)

This is a project I’m currently working on. I hadn’t planned to show it yet, but I noticed these carving tools(Power Grip Carving Set) are on sale on Amazon and wanted to share the deal (Under $30!!). I only used the 6 mm round for this piece.

For reference, the set sells for about $50 at Rockler or Woodcraft.

I bought the seven-piece set before, but this five-piece set is actually a better value per piece. They’re good enough for a light user like me, or for anyone starting to learn carving and wanting to add a bit of charm to their woodworking.

One quick note: I saw a few Amazon reviews mentioning knockoffs, so just make sure what you receive looks legit.

Merry Christmas, my fellow woodworkers! I'll give away Kebiki hardware kits(no blade) to 3 people. If you want it, please leave a comment here and send me your email from the following link (I won't use your email address other than this purpose). It's only for the people who lives in the US (sorry, that's all I can do for the shipping cost reason).

Tomorrow night around 8pm, I will randomly select 3 people then reply to their email and ask for their shipping address.

Thank you for your support!

The Kebiki marking gauge kit will be available tomorrow, December 15th at 8AM PST on Kittystationery.com. I’ll make it easy to find from the top page.

I mistakenly mentioned the 25th on my website, and I apologize for the confusion. That was completely on me. To be fair to everyone, I’ve set aside some stock for the 25th, so even if it sells out before then, a portion will still be available on that date.

I wish I could handle things like this more professionally, but I’m just a random human doing my best...

If you are looking for a mid-range hand plane, I have found the 寿常三郎 (Kotobuki Tsunesaburo) from the renowned maker 常三郎 (Tsunesaburo) is a good deal on Amazon Japan for a 70mm model, the common Sunpachi size, that ships internationally including to the US.

This plane is from a very decent reputable brand and features Blue Paper #1 steel, so I expect it will perform well, but I must note I have never used this plane and the performance surely depends on the type of wood you are dealing with.

While the cheapest option you can find this plane for is around JPY 24,000 within Japan, it is currently priced at only JPY 15,096. When shipping to the US, the total cost including the shipping fee and the import fee (which is a new charge added a few months ago) comes to about JPY 22,000 or roughly $150 USD, making this a good deal.

Just be warned, when importing tools with a wooden base from Japan, the wood can sometimes move or warp due to environmental changes during transit, and there is a chance you have to deal with a crack, which is something I have experienced myself. I just thought it was too good a deal to let it slip, but as I said, I cannot guarantee the performance for your use.

I won't be able to upload videos for the time being as I'm away from home but just heads up, I finished 2 projects today:) They'll be coming as soon as I have time to make the videos, maybe later in this month.

If you are looking for Japanese woodworking books, I found some amazing ones, but they are only available in Japanese language. So, I looked for a way to translate them into your language. Below are summaries of the books plus instructions on how to translate them yourself.

If you know a better way to translate them, please let me know or share it here.

Anyway, I should be making something instead of being chatty-chatty on the community tab...

It's out of the randomness, I'll be in Japan, probably in early October, and I'm planning to check out some woodworking stores around Tokyo. I'm thinking of places like Sagami daiku, Inoue, and Kurashige, plus a few other local spots I know. We definitely won't be able to hit all of them in one day, so you can decide.

It's still a bit early to pin down exact dates, as I need to sort out my schedule. But if anyone happens to be in the Tokyo area around that time and is interested, we could meet up to visit stores, do something during the day, and even grab dinner.

Just a heads-up, I won't be staying in Tokyo itself (though I'll be very close by either way), but I can stay there for a night if that helps with plans. And full disclosure, I'm not the most social person, so you'd be taking a bit of a risk, haha!

If no one, it's fine. I'll just clean my room all day. Yeah, the hotel room.

As requested, I bought this very reasonable Kakuri plane and set it up for a new video. It's a Japanese plane but not a typical laminated iron so there is not much to worry about when doing the initial setup and of course, the performance is more than good enough for small works at hobbyier level like me.
Anyways, I should start a project soon!

My current project is finished and I need to make a video. Well, I bought a decent video lighting set for finished product shots, and it cost me more than any of my woodworking tools. So now I feel like I have to make more videos—but it's still been sitting in the box for a week, haha. I'll do my best:)

This is a really great deal on woodcraft if you don't have a surface plate! I got the same thing for $70 a several months ago and it's really handy size for a plane sole correction. I have no affiliation with them but just sharing the sale info.
