ICT SMC – TBS (Turtle Body Soup) Entry Model
The TBS Entry Model, also known as Turtle Body Soup, is an advanced ICT (Inner Circle Trader) SMC entry concept that focuses on catching reversal moves from areas of liquidity after a false breakout or stop-hunt. It’s a precision entry model designed to catch moves right at the moment when the market shifts away from liquidity and returns to efficiency.
🔹 Concept Behind TBS Entry
The Turtle Body Soup setup originates from the idea of the Turtle Soup model—but with an enhanced focus on candle body reactions, not just wicks.
In ICT logic, when liquidity is taken above/below a key high or low, the market often reverses sharply, forming a shift in structure.
The “Body Soup” part means the close/open of candles (not just the wick) are crucial for confirmation — showing real displacement and rejection.
⚙️ TBS Entry Model Structure
Identify Liquidity Pool
Look for equal highs or equal lows that attract liquidity.
This is where retail traders usually place buy/sell stops.
Liquidity Grab (Stop Hunt)
Price moves above equal highs or below equal lows.
This run triggers retail stops and captures liquidity.
Strong Rejection Candle (Body Reaction)
After the stop hunt, look for a displacement candle (engulfing or impulsive candle) that closes back inside the previous range.
This candle confirms smart money rejection and shift in sentiment.
Market Structure Shift (MSB)
On a lower timeframe (like M1–M5), confirm a break of structure in the opposite direction.
This confirms the reversal is valid.
Entry Point
Enter on retracement to fair value gap (FVG) or order block formed after the MSB.
Ideal entry is when price retests the body area of the rejection candle (the “soup zone”).
Stop Loss & Target
Stop Loss: Just beyond the liquidity grab (few pips above/below the swing).
Take Profit:
First target at recent internal liquidity,
Final target at opposite liquidity pool (buy-side or sell-side).
⚔️ Example (Bullish TBS Setup)
Price forms equal lows → liquidity builds up.
Market sweeps below the equal lows (sells triggered).
A bullish engulfing candle closes above previous body range → “body soup” confirmation.
Market structure shifts bullish on M1–M5.
Entry on FVG retracement → Stop below the sweep → Target next liquidity above.
📊 Key Points for Precision Entry
Always trade during high-volume sessions (London or New York).
Confirm liquidity sweep + displacement candle + BOS/MSB.
Entry from FVG / OB zone for tight stop loss.
Align with daily bias for higher probability.
🔑 Why It Works
The TBS model exploits retail stop hunts and smart money reversals.
It combines:
Liquidity concept (stop hunt)
Displacement (strong candle close)
Re-entry at FVG or OB (optimal trade entry)
This makes it one of ICT’s high-probability reversal entry models, giving tight SL and large RR (risk-reward) setups.
