Recording “The Language of Past Lives” @harmonyhotel in Costa Rica with @amorreluciente and @thedreamradio 🌱 This album has been such a deep labor of love amongst a family of friends and it is the first record I have put out independently in over a decade (!) It has been so healing to have full agency again over every creative choice and the timeline, too. To get a chance to make this record from an intuitive and heart-led space, lifted up by so many high-frequency, talented musicians has been a massive gift. We have had the opportunity to make creative choices based on what feels resonant and real as opposed to what will satisfy the hungry ghost of an algorithm. We all know how to birth the things that we are uniquely positioned to vision in and create, and to remember the strength of that intuition when you have given it away in the past is a form of soul retrieval.

One week until the release of my single, “The Language of Past Lives”, featuring @amoreluciente. It took two years of recording/rewriting/rerecording to finish writing it. I think when a song removes you from the timeline you thought you were on, it’s because it begins to teach you something through the process of writing it- or because you haven’t yet lived through all the experiences necessary to complete it. I feel very humbled by this song and maybe one day I’ll be able to sing it without crying.
The song is a centerpiece of my upcoming record. I wrote it about how our bodies carry their own fate: some days disease, some days miracle… and perhaps these mysteries are our karmic inheritance from a past life.
