Well… here it is. The book many of you all waited for. The book many said would explain the diecast line better and… well it didn’t. Let’s start with the positives. The book is a solid 7/10. The story is fun, has a nice tie-in to the Cars universe, and offers lots of fun moments. Ramone and Flo also play a huge role in this. Sally and Sheriff both are barely in this story though… Sally doesn’t even show up with the roof rack and cones or a role like the diecast depicts it and only appears once. Guido only appears once as well- yikes. Bobby Swift, Brick Yardley and Bubba Wheelhouse appear, but without Rally designs. Rally McQueen only appears on the cover page and that’s kind of it… wow.
Speaking of low count appearances, no sign of Kathy Copter, Morgan Martins, Adam Roadriguez, or Jeff Gorvette. Danny Swervez and Cal Weathers don’t show up in their Rally Race 200 deigns either.
Now the question is; what came first? The book or the toys? Cuz even the large plastic Red has Guido on his roof and that never appears in the story.. at least the playset does tie in somewhat to the book. So credit where credit is due.
I can’t forgive Mattel for not creating Race & Rescue Ramone and Flo. You’re telling me creating a new ambulance mold, packaging material, and photoshopping his artwork was cheaper than just creating Ramone and Flo?! R&R Flo and Ramone would’ve been easy BUDGET FRIENDLY releases. You just released Lightning Ramone and Flo with Tray this year… just repurpose those! I know Mattel had to put in tons of effort for the non-canon characters. Why didn’t they put the focus onto creating a Ramone and Flo? You know, characters that actually did appear in the book? Make it make sense. I dare anyone to defend Kathy, Morgan, Adam and Jeff’s diecast existence after this book… lol.
I do like the Race & Rescue story, but the diecast Mattel produced is a different story.
(Side note: Chick committing arson near Doc’s grave is canon and I love it… lol)

Finally a watchable version of the cancelled Pixar short: “To Protect And Serve”. Directed and created by Gerardo y Sus Amigos on YouTube, and English dubbing directed by Piston Cup Productions .
Many returnee voices from the cast of Racing Like a Fireball: REMASTERED will be recording the English dubbing of this short— along with new voices, too! The Spanish version will be premiering THIS WEEKEND and the English dub will be coming out early March (exact date to be announced).
