The Sri Lanka frogmouth, Sri Lankan frogmouth or Ceylon frogmouth (Batrachostomus moniliger) is a small frogmouth found in south India and Sri Lanka.
This bird reaches 23 centimeters (9.1 in) in length. Like all frogmouths, this species has a wide and hooked bill with slit-like nostrils and the large head with eyes facing forward to provide a wide field of binocular vision. Compared to others of its genus it has small wings, which are distinguished by the wing coverts ending in black spots tipped with white.
The male one and female one can be easily distinguished using skin colour. The female is rufous, lightly spotted with white. The male is grey and more heavily spotted.
It hunts insects with its large gape. The flight appears weak and fluttery, but they are capable of flying quietly under the forest canopy.
Sinharaja Rain Forest is one of the best places to see this amazing bird in Si Lanka.

The Sri Lankan leopard (Panthera pardus kotiya) is a leopard subspecies native to Sri Lanka. The Sri Lankan leopard has a tawny or rusty yellow coat with dark spots and close-set rosettes, which are smaller than in Indian leopards. The Sri Lankan leopard has allegedly evolved to become a rather large leopard subspecies, because it is an apex predator without competition by other large wild cat species in the country. Melanistic leopards are rare.
Since 2020, the Sri Lankan leopard has been listed as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List, as the population is estimated at less than 800 mature individuals, and is probably declining
This photograph was taken by me at Yala National Park,. which is one of the beast places to see a Sri Lankan leopard.
