✍️ welcome to my writing life!!

hi there! my name is Joy, and since i was a child, i've been a daydreamer, a reader, and a storyteller. i'm currently working on what i hope will be my debut novel (a gothic high fantasy), and i'm here to document the writing life, from drafting woes to craft chats and everything all around and in between. i live in the midwest with a dashing husband, two young kids, two old cats, and a whole lot of houseplants.

i'm glad you're here! 💖🌙

Friends! I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for 1k subscribers! I am so, so thankful to have this wonderful writing community 🫶

I just got back from visiting my family in Florida (it was a nineteen-hour drive... yikes), but this week I will be editing a writing vlog that I filmed earlier this month and I can't wait for y'all to see it! I'd also love to film another writing craft video this week, so if there are any specific topics you would like me to discuss, let me know in the comments 💗

I'm also going to host live writing sprints with the lovely Taylor Ann Wright tomorrow (June 29 at 8pm). Hope to see you there!!

Hi friends! First of all, welcome to all you new subscribers—I am so honored that you've chosen to follow my writing journey, and I hope that you're able to glean some inspiration from it. Second of all, I do have a little uploading schedule update: ordinarily, I try to post three or four videos a month, but this summer, I've got a lot more on my plate! I'll be traveling a lot (visiting family, vacation, and friends' weddings... all good things!), training for a half-marathon, and spending time with kids that are home from school, so with all that in mind, I've decided to scale it back to just two videos a month so that I don't feel like I'm failing all the time, lol. 💕 Thank you so much for understanding!

Meanwhile, I'm also in the midst of planning my next few livestreams, so keep your eyes peeled! I'm so excited to write with you all 🫶

Hey friends! Unfortunately, I will not have a video up this week, but I am currently filming two videos for this channel. They're just going to take a long time to film and edit, probably 🫡

However, that being said, I will still be around! I actually scheduled three writing livestreams over the next few weeks, so I hope to see you there.

SUNDAY, MARCH 23 @ 6PM EST — ft. Becca Tobar, Taylor Ann Wright, & come write with tea | Tia
SUNDAY, MARCH 30 @ 7PM EST — ft. ana neu, Ande Sears, & Alyssa and the Books
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 9 @ 9PM EST — ft. Emily Thompson & written by amelia

Much love 💖

Friends! I'm back with a monster of a reading vlog, but I had so much fun making it 🫶
I gleaned so much from my close reading of Brandon Sanderson's Mistborn. There's a lot that I will (and certainly will not 😅) apply to my own writing. I hope that you get some good takeaways, too, or just are generally entertained by my reactions. (Beware—there are some spoilers and predictions within if that matters to you, but I do label them!)
