SHSAT word problems are not “just math”. They’re translation.
A student can know a formula, know the operation, and still lose the points because they translated one phrase wrong.
SHSAT prep needs to be more than random practice problems you find online.
Inside out SHSAT Boost, we teach students how to break down the test the way high scorers do: how to translate the questions, avoid trap answers, move faster, and actually understand what each question wants from them.
For NYC students aiming for Stuyvesant, Bronx Science, Brooklyn Tech, Staten Island Tech, Brooklyn Latin, and other specialized high schools - SHSAT is very competitive.
POV: the met gala happened but you still have finals and test prep summer…
If you’re still prepping for June SAT or planning to take the August SAT, summer is your window. Our students got into Harvard, Yale, MIT, Stanford, Cornell THIS year. Their scores were a pretty big deal in the applications.
Most families don’t find out what selective colleges actually care about until it’s too late. John Morganelli did admissions at Cornell for years. He’s seen why qualified students get rejected - and built a system to change that.
🎯 One of his students, Sarah, followed it junior year. She’s at Stanford now.
He’s going live to break it all down (for free). Real benchmarks. Real student profiles. Real answers to your questions.
Seats are running out fast. John Morganelli is one of those people everyone wants to get in front of - for good reason 👩🏻🎓

June SAT is 3 weeks away and you still think vocab is just memorization 🥲
I’m dyslexic, and I literally said this in class today:
all of these CON words look very similar to me.
They all have the same size.
They all have the same shape.
Visually? Almost identical.
Meaning? Completely different.
💔 And honestly, that’s EXACTLY why the SAT loves them.
The test is designed to punish “kinda familiar. You need precision.

May SAT test taker?
You need to stop guessing what notwithstanding means. The SAT doesn't test definitions — it tests direction.
Save this for the next time you blank on a weird transition word.

everyone just got their March SAT back...
some of y'all celebrating, some of y'all in emotional damage mode
either way, let's take a pause.
your score isn’t your final outcome. it's just data.
what actually matters now is:
- where you lost points
- what patterns you're missing
- what's holding you back from that next jump
because May is literally right there. a 200-300 point jump in ~6 weeks? that's normal...
IF you stop guessing and start playing it like a system.
most people won't improve not because they can't - but because they're using random tips + outdated prep
2026 SAT is pattern-based.
and if you don't know the patterns, you're just hoping
we've already mapped it.
- real test trends analyzed
- exact question types breaking scores
- strategies that have worked on thousands of students
May SAT can be your comeback. This is where you’ll find all details: www.katyasat.com/offers/KyDpqiX4/checkout
