Today belongs to the poinsettia, that red-robed plant we all secretly believe walks out of holiday stories when no one’s watching. It isn’t just decoration. It’s a little festival growing in a pot.

The plant began its journey in Mexico, where it was called Flor de Nochebuena, the Flower of the Holy Night. Legend says a young girl, too poor to bring a gift to Christmas service, gathered roadside leaves with an embarrassed heart. But once placed on the altar, the leaves blushed into the deep crimson we know today. A quiet miracle, born from a simple gesture.

Fast forward to our modern homes, and poinsettias have become those cheerful companions perched on tables, doorways, and office desks. They don’t say a word, yet somehow they whisper “It’s okay… the year is slowing down. Take a breath.”

So today, if you spot a poinsettia, give it a tiny nod. It has traveled through myths, continents, and centuries just to glow in your living room.
