"Candle meditation is a very ancient and highly restful practice in the art of one-pointedness, the ability to direct your attention fully to one point and not allow your mind to wander. This exercise is performed in two parts: first, gazing steadily at the flame of the candle for approximately 2 minutes, and then placing your palms over your closed eyes and attempting to retain the image of the flame for an additional 2 minutes.

Now, your candle should be lighted, and you should be seated in the usual posture. Fix your gaze steadily on the flame. Keep your eyelids in their natural position and blink as necessary. Observe the subtle movements of the flame. Continue to observe the movements and the various colors contained within the flame. Close your eyes and place your palms lightly over the lids, retaining the image of the flame and trying to center this image. Observe the characteristics of the flame, the differences in form and color. If the flame disappears, you can bring it back simply by willing it back."

"Now we will use imagination for meditation. This is a practice for inner growth through visualizing and feeling. One of the classical symbols of growth and fruition is the Rose. So let us now imagine what it would be like if we actually became a rose. Here, the emphasis is on your spontaneous experiencing and reacting, not on thought and analysis. Therefore, you will allow your body complete freedom to move however it wishes during the following narrative. Each time you hear this narrative, your reactions will be somewhat different, and this is as it should be.

Now, sit in the recommended posture. But remember that for this exercise, it is permissible to move any part of your body, including your arms and legs, in any manner you wish. Also, to aid in your visualizing, your eyes should now be completely closed. Let us begin.

Now feel a tiny spark of light, faint tingling, begin to activate you. There are slight stirrings, ever so slightly. You begin to awaken from nothingness, to grow a little and expand. Feel tiny droplets of water gently falling upon you. Let the water soak through you. Grow and expand a little more. You are attached to a vine, a stem. Become aware of this connection. Feel that nourishment and vitality enter from this vine. Now feel your petals beginning to open and slowly grow. Feel more water. Now feel a torrent of water all over you. It is springtime. Feel the breezes of the wind. Feel yourself rocking gently to and fro from these breezes. Feel the vine pouring nourishment into you. Feel a great surge of vitality from this nourishment. You are being born. What is it like to be born? You are opening up further, expanding more. Your petals are unfolding and spreading. Feel the warm glow of the sun. Feel yourself turning toward the source of this warmth. See the sun, the symbol of energy, of life. Let yourself be drawn by the sun. Bask in its warmth. Unfold completely, grow to your full potential. You are bright red. All around you is the green of the fields, above you the pure blue of the sky. The sun is tremendously bright, white and orange. The sun accepts you, nourishes you, sustains you. You are as important to the sun as it is to you. You are now in full bloom."

For the next repetition, the voice should be medium loud and steady, with the sound coming from the abdomen, not the chest. The 'm' sound should be extremely resonant, creating strong vibrations.

First, ensure that you are seated comfortably yet firmly in the recommended posture, with your head held high and your eyelids partially lowered. Relax.

Now, pay attention to your breath. Your breath should be low, meaning that the movement should occur primarily in your abdominal area. With each inhalation, gently push out your abdomen and guide the air into the abdominal region effortlessly.

Next, try to slow down the pace of your breath. Breathe as quietly as possible. You are now sitting correctly, breathing silently and slowly, and allowing a slight abdominal movement with each inhale.

We will establish a rhythm for your breath. We will count 'two' for inhaling, 'two' for exhaling, and 'two' for the resting phase without breath.

Follow this rhythm on your own:
Inhale (two)
Exhale (two)
Rest (two)
Inhale (two)
Exhale (two)
Rest (two)

Continue this pattern by yourself.
Do not let your focus wander.
