Habit, Heart, & Possibility-Creative Planning

Hi, I’m Lisa, and this is Habit, Heart, and Possibility.
This channel is a cozy, creative space centered on creative journaling and gentle planning as a way to support real life—the kind of life that includes busy weeks, quiet seasons, family rhythms, and the need to slow down without falling behind.
Here, I share:
Reflective creative journaling
Gentle, realistic planner spreads
Homemaking rhythms
Gluten-free family meals
Family moments, game nights
Everything you’ll find here is rooted in the belief that how we tend our days shapes how we feel, and that small, thoughtful routines can help steady both home and heart.
I live in New England with my family and our rescue pup. This channel is less about location and more about creating a life that feels supportive, intentional, and lived in. If you’re a creative journaler, a planner who values flexibility, or someone looking for softer rhythms, you’re welcome here. We take things one page, one habit, and one possibility at a time.

Habit, Heart, & Possibility-Creative Planning

Do you keep a commonplace book—or another journal where you collect things you want to remember?

I'm working on mine as part of my current journaling series, and I'm curious how many of you already have something similar.

Habit, Heart, & Possibility-Creative Planning

Welcome Home

September is beginning to feel different here in New England.

Summer hasn't disappeared. The trees are still green, and there are still warm afternoons ahead.

But the light has changed.

The mornings feel different.

Autumn seems to be whispering around the edges.

And it has me thinking about how much of our own growth happens this way.

Quietly.

We tend to think change should come with a clear before and after.

But sometimes a habit slowly becomes part of us.

Our priorities shift.

Something that once bothered us doesn't carry the same weight.

We begin dreaming about something new.

One day we look around and realize:

I'm not quite where I used to be anymore.

That's what I'm paying attention to this week.

Not dramatic transformation.

Becoming.

A Gentle Journaling Prompt

Take a few quiet minutes today and write:

What is quietly changing in my life?

Then ask:

What am I becoming ready for?

You don't need to turn your answers into a plan.

Just notice them.

Observation comes first.

What's Growing Here

I'm also continuing to expand the quieter side of this channel.

Along with The Gentle Reset and The Gentle Art of Journaling, you'll begin seeing more ambience and Pomodoro videos—peaceful spaces you can keep beside you while you journal, read, work, create, or simply spend a little quiet time at home.

I think of them as a little light left on.

Come in whenever you need it.

You don't have to be productive.

You don't have to have everything figured out.

You don't even have to know exactly what season you're entering next.

Just be here for this one.

Autumn doesn't begin with falling leaves. It begins with the quiet permission to become something new.

Welcome home.

Return to what matters.

Lantern Monday

Tomorrow begins a new month.

So, today's Lantern Question is simple:

What would you like September to feel like?

Not what do you want to accomplish.

Not how productive do you want to be.

Just...

How would you like the month to feel?

Sometimes that is a much better place to begin.

Carry a little light into September.

A Letter from the Patio

August

Hello, my friend,

August has always felt like a month caught gently between two seasons.

Summer is still here.

The flowers are still blooming. The afternoons are still warm. There are still evenings meant for sitting outside and letting conversations linger.

And yet...

Every once in a while, I notice something different.

The light changes.

A morning feels a little cooler.

I begin thinking about books, candles, changing leaves, and all the things I love about autumn.

I've been reminding myself not to rush.

There will be plenty of time for autumn when it comes.

For now, I want to notice August.

The butterflies.
The warm evenings.
The flowers.
The last lingering pieces of summer.

This month has reminded me that we don't always need to hurry toward the next beautiful thing.

Sometimes the beautiful thing is already here.

Thank you for spending another month with me in this little corner of the internet.

As September begins, I hope we keep learning to notice what is already good before reaching for what comes next.

Until next month...

I'll meet you on the patio.

Habit, Heart, & Possibility-Creative Planning

Today is the final day of the August Journaling Celebration.

What began as a free book became something much more.

We've reflected.
We've written.
We've encouraged one another.
We've created space for honesty.

If you've been part of this journey, thank you from the bottom of my heart.

If you've enjoyed The Gentle Art of Journaling, I'd be incredibly grateful if you'd leave an honest Amazon review. Your words help other readers discover the book and continue this journey.

No matter where you are in your journaling practice, I hope you'll keep writing.

One page at a time.
One season at a time.
Creating a Home for Your Heart.

Thank you for celebrating with me.
Lisa

Patio Saturday

I've been thinking about seasonal traditions lately.

Some traditions are big.

Others are almost invisible until we realize we've been doing them for years.

Maybe you always bake something when autumn arrives.

Maybe you take the same summer trip.

Maybe the first snowfall means hot chocolate.

Maybe Sunday mornings always look a certain way.

What's one small tradition that makes life feel like home to you?

I'd love to hear about it.

Until next time... I'll meet you on the patio.

Five Quiet Things Friday

Five quiet things I'm carrying into the weekend...

1. The first little hints of autumn
2. Books I haven't read yet
3. Slow mornings
4. The last weeks of summer flowers
5. The comfort of being home

August always reminds me that we don't have to rush from one season into another.

We can appreciate what's ending while still looking forward to what comes next.

What are you carrying into the weekend?

Gentle Choice Thursday

I'd love your help with something.

Which kind of video makes you most likely to settle in and stay a while?

I'm shaping the next season of the channel, and your answers really do help me understand what feels most at home here.

Windowsill Wednesday

Today's Pressing

Today's Pressing...

Late August always feels like standing in a doorway.

Summer is still here.

Autumn hasn't arrived.

And for a little while, we get to belong to both.

I think there is something beautiful about seasons that don't need us to decide exactly what they are yet.

What are you noticing today?
