The Mentoring Lab
We are a Black-led youth organisation based in Hackney, East London, UK. Our main aim is to ensure all young people are equipped and enabled to overcome barriers to progression and accessing wider opportunities. We do this by providing young people with safe spaces to reflect on their current situation, explore opportunities available to them and develop the qualities to access the opportunities and succeed.
We deliver;
- One to one and group mentoring
- Online After School Club
- Speed Mentoring Events
- Face to face youth activities
- Tutoring for young people at risk of school exclusion who have a learning need
- Youth Mentoring Training
It is our ultimate mission to increase social capital and improve social mobility to end the circle of poverty for all young people.

Alicia Richardson, founder of Black Create Connect and TEDx speaker, brings her expertise as a DEI consultant, educator, personal brand, and career coach to the table. Her energy and awesomeness fill any room she enters, making her an invaluable voice in our conversation.
Maisha Sumah, an award-winning speaker and founder of She Walks in Value, is a staunch advocate for youth empowerment. As chair of Richmond's VAWG Community Forum and the youngest NHS mental health expert representative, her significant community impact is undeniable.
Naheeda Maharasingam, who transformed a struggling primary school into an OFSTED-rated outstanding institution, leads the Embedding Race Equality Steering Group in Lewisham, focusing on improving outcomes for black children in the borough.
Shadee Bazrcar, with her expertise as a social and brand strategist, has propelled personalities and brands to new heights, fostering thriving online businesses with her emphasis on value-based content and profound audience engagement.
Representing Gen Z, Jasmine Wissart specializes in Sports, Music, and Food as a freelance producer for Capital and Capital XTRA. Her passion uplifts the energy of everyone she encounters, making her an invaluable addition to our discussion.
