As soon as I saw the fabric it reminded me of the MANY fan arts I've seen of Jude in the dress she wore to the Coronation in The Folk of the Air series!!
This dress was made from fabric that was given to me and a bed sheet.
A lot of it was trial and error.
Figuring out how to get structure and weight out of fabric that wasn’t meant for it, adjusting as I went, and leaning into the limitations instead of fighting them.
Using a bed sheet and scrap fabric forced me to be more intentional with every decision.
But all in all, I've gotten better at making lace up corsets and making twirls skirts!! Not perfect, but very much mine.
For my third project and second attempt at seeing a dress, I'm so happy with what I created!
From a thrifted duvet cover to a ball gown and audacity, I proved to myself that I can do anything that I set my mind to - I can teach myself how to sew, how to design, and how to learn from my MANY mistakes!
The corset was revamped with removing the zip and adding a ribbon lace up back.
I sewed lace onto of the white corset to give added detail.
I sewed a wrap skirt from a thrifted bedsheets and painted it with watered down fabric paint, cutting the bottom to add moth eaten detailing to the bottom.
Topping it off with the lace overskirt I made for Project 1: Elain Archeron's dress, a poofy underskirt, lace tights and my favourite boots, Emily came to life.
