Creative living in Finland

My name is Tuisku, and I'm a 42-year-old Finnish part-time artist who studies the Finnish four seasons through a process-driven art practice.

This channel is for anyone who enjoys slow living, creativity, and Nordic nature. Or maybe for someone who simply wants to pause for a moment and share a calm space together.

This channel was born when I decided to challenge myself to create a vlog every week, for 52 weeks straight. I'm curious to see where this journey will take us. You are welcome to follow along.

I thought to share a photo of the artwork on the latest vlog, in case you want to take a closer look.

I always find it a bit hard to get a good look of a painting in a video, so I thought to share this fellow in here as well. It's been very cloudy and quite dark for the past couple of days, so it's not the best photo. But hey, it's a photo! 😄

Have a lovely winter day! ❄️

This time of the year the sun is playing with my paintings almost daily. Shadows create new dimensions to the artworks, colors change and my imagination runs wild.

Days are getting longer, even though it is still winter here. But these little moments of sun just feel amazing after all of these dark months.

Do you ever feel like time flies and we change and grow so rapidly?

These two paper artworks were made one year apart. The one I'm holding was made in January 2025, and the colorful one in 2024. I wonder what year 2026 will bring. At least more blue, since it's been colder this year.

The weather changes our perception.

I just LOVE snow. It's been snowing all day, and I've been really enjoying it. How are you coping with winter? I mean if it's winter for you right now, of course. ❄️

How does the current video length (around 5–9 minutes) feel to you?

Weather is getting colder, muddy trails finally frozen. Ducks by the river seek shelter from the grassy shores and someone, a stranger, feeds them every week. I sketch in my warm studio and let my mind wonder back to the riverside.

In case you wonder what I painted in candle light, this sketch was one of them. I added a bit of oil pastel later on. Makes me think of the river and the golden, dry grass from the last summer.

In this week's vlog I'm sharing a few glimpses of the process of this artwork. It was a wild ride! The whole piece went through at least 4 different stages, before it found it's form. I'm quite happy about how it turned out. Even though I did stare at the peachy color in disbelief for a second, and thought what on earth have I done.. Luckily it dried out perfectly.

It is such a dark day, but I wanted to see this fellow on my wall, before it will be picked up for it's new home. I'm going to miss this piece from the spring 2025, but it will have a great home.

It always feels a bit bittersweet to say goodbye to a piece, but they were never meant to stay with me forever. They are meant to find their person, and bring them what they need. Sometimes it is hope, sometimes joy, a memory, curiosity or maybe comfort.

This piece is called "Lempi" in Finnish, and it is a soft and gentle word for love. For a moment I'm going to enjoy that warm and fuzzy feeling this painting brings me, and then it is time to say goodbye.

I had totally forgotten this painting from the November 2024. A year has passed, and so many hours have been spent in the studio.

This one makes me think of the riverside, and all the times I have been standing there, watching the ducks. A big flock of them gathers there all winter. Sometimes I counted over 100 of them at once.

Rölli is always excited to see them too, except he probably sees a great dinner for himself. Sorry, no duck for you buddy.
