What truly awakens a person from within? Not sleep, but that quiet turning point when something deep inside says, there is more to life than this.
In the vision of Kashmir Shaivism, that inner spark is called Śaktipāta, the descent of Śiva’s grace into awareness. It is the fifth divine act, Anugraha, when the Absolute reveals itself through the seeker’s own life.
Abhinavagupta in the Tantrāloka describes nine levels of this descent of grace. At the highest level, realization dawns instantly and completely. At gentler levels, it appears as devotion, longing, or the pull toward a living teacher. Each form of Śaktipāta is a movement of the same divine intention: to awaken the individual into the recognition of their own true nature.

Kālikāstotram by Acharya Jñānanetraḥ of Kashmir. Acharya Jñānanetra also called as Śivānanda is the name of a Kashmiri teacher who lived about the middle of the 9th century CE. In this phase of the Kālīkrama now simply called Krama more attention is dedicated to the Śāmbhava state as the ultimate one.
Acharya Jñānanetraḥ wrote this beautiful Kalika Stotram Dedicating it to Ma Kalasamkarshini Kali. The tradition records that Jñānanetra was a fully awakened spiritual master. An unpublished text called The Hymn to the Five Voids (Khacakra-stotra), which purports to have been an oral transmission from the Yoginīs of Uḍḍiyāna, lauds his greatness.
