I review Apple products, compare them with competitors, and give honest advice so you save time and money. I also cover big tech stories that could affect your life today and in the near future.
I've been really busy with the holidays and making content around CES 2026, but I haven't forgotten about the 1,000 subscriber giveaway! The two initial winning picks never responded back to me, so I'll be announcing some modified giveaway rules and picking a new winner soon. Stay tuned!
- Today is my last day at CES and there is so much left to see. I spent all of today exploring the rest of the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC) halls. My goal was to find things that looked really cool and would serve as good B roll for my videos. Due to the lack of time, I was not able to spend a lot of time with any particular product nor record any of my thoughts on the mic like in previous days.
- If you've never been to the LVCC, it's one of the largest convention centers in the world. I'm really glad they had the Tesla loop available for free to get around faster.
- The media rooms served again as a great place away from the crowds to get some work done and get some stable internet. They had some simple items for breakfast and also gave out $25 lunch vouchers.
- The West, North, and Central halls were exactly what I imagined CES to be like before I went on this trip: massive brand displays, robots everywhere, beautiful new TVs, and all the smaller things in between. If I only had 1 day for CES, then I think this is the best place to explore.
- I brought my DJI Action 5 Pro on this trip, but I didn't use it as much as I thought I would. In contrast, I really enjoyed using my iPhone 17 Pro Max to record content due to the ease-of-use, lightness, high video quality, and different zoom lengths. This was especially useful when I was not able to get up close to a product or if I had to sit far back during a presentation.
- The robotic tech on display was really amazing to see. The two fighting robots in the boxing gear was definitely one of the coolest things on display. Check out my short video of it here:
- After seeing the latest micro RGB TVs on display, it made me appreciate how fantastic OLED TVs have been since their arrival on the consumer market. It will take some time for the price of micro RGB TVs to fall down in price, but you can easily get a very nice quality OLED 65" for under $1,000 right now.
This wraps up my daily thought posts on CES 2026. I'll be posting several long form videos of my trip, so stay tuned!
- Waking up early and getting to the convention place before it opens is the way to go. So much time saved from waiting in transit or security lines.
- The media rooms have been a great resource to use on this trip for a decent wifi connection, random drinks/snacks, provided lunches or lunch vouchers, and some quiet time from the show chaos.
- I spent all of today wandering the south hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center. This is where all the accessories are located, but I definitely was not ready for how many case and power bank booths there were. A lot of these products looked exactly the same with different company names on them, so it was hard to find anything that really stood out.
- Many of these booths had a mix of old products and new products. Because of this, it was very hard to tell what was old and what was new. Exhibitioners please take note: have a simple area with your latest products or at least label the ones that are new "new" if it's not obvious to people.
- Semi solid-state power banks were a common trend. This new technology is supposed to improve stability and reduce the risk of battery swelling.
- Although it's called a consumer electronics show, there were plenty of booths setup only to do business with other businesses and not direct to consumer (at least for the south hall accessories area).
- I'm hoping to release my first long-form video of this CES trip, so stay tuned for that.
Tomorrow will be my last day at CES 2026, so keep a look out for the Day #5 update!
Hello all! Sorry for the late updates. Even though I am at the largest tech convention in the world, it's surprisingly difficult to get fast, stable access to WiFi or even good cellular signal while inside the different convention areas. Here are some thoughts over the last few days...
CES 2026 Day #2:
- Lines were long to get a Las Vegas Lenovo Sphere event ticket, but the line moved fast and luckily I was able to get one! See Day 3 thoughts for my reaction to the event.
- This was another media day, but it mostly consisted of sit-down company keynotes. The big keynotes for day 2 were Nvidia and AMD. There was also a Lego presentation in the morning that introduced a VERY interesting new product, but I wasn't able to make it to that one =(.
- The Fontainebleau Las Vegas is an amazing luxury hotel and the perfect location for the most valuable company in the world.
- There were plenty of Nvidia staff around the hotel dressed in green shirts to direct people around. The crowd for the Nvidia keynote was massive, so I'm glad they had plenty of staff around. Despite the long lines, we were able to get into the main theater for the keynote. However, there was a really nice overflow area with free food for those who did not make it into the theater.
- It was awesome to see Jensen Huang in person! Nvidia made a bunch of product announcements related to how they are tackling the rise in computational demand due to the rise in AI. His keynotes are usually more technical, so it was easy to get a bit lost in the presentation with all the technical jargon.
- AMD's keynote was very similar to Nvidia's in that they also announced new products to tackle the rise in computational demand from the rise of AI. It's really interesting that two family members (Lisa Su and Jensen Huang) are leading two of the largest computer companies in the world. I wonder what their family Christmas parties are like hah.
CES 2026 Day #3:
- CES officially opens to all industry people today, which means that it's much more crowded today compared to previous media days.
- I spent most of the morning and afternoon at the Venetian area and was really shocked at how little I was able to cover in that time. There is way too much to see for just one person. Many tech products from countries outside the United States are gathered together here, so it's interesting to see what tech they are working on.
- The Las Vegas Sphere is an incredible entertainment venue. I've seen videos of the inside and outside of the Sphere, but I was still blown away at the in-person experience.
- The free Gwen Stefani concert after the Lenovo keynote was a real treat. We were able to get very close to the stage, but it requires you to tilt your head up more to see the Sphere visuals. I think the 3rd floor seats would give the best Sphere experience for most events.
- We have been averaging 10,000 steps in the previous days, but we hit a new record of 15,000 steps for day 3!
It's 11:30PM on day #1 of CES 2026 here in Las Vegas. My plane landed at 4PM and I went straight to the "CES Unveiled" event at the Mandalay Bay. Some initial thoughts from someone going to CES for the first time:
- Badge pickup at the airport was really easy!
- It was interesting to see all the different types of gear people were using to record content, from simple iPhones to high-end video production setups. The DJI Osmo Pocket 3 is a very popular choice here and for good reason.
- I spent about 2 hours walking around the different booths and don't think I was able to see everything I wanted, let alone make any content around it. I can't imagine what the main show floors will be like in a few days. I definitely understand what people mean when they say it's impossible to see everything.
- Some company representatives may not want to talk to you on camera or do an interview, but they will probably have someone else who will. I'll need to change my initial approach to make sure the company rep I talk to first actually wants to be on camera or talk in a microphone.
- I was able to meet some fellow tech creators who I have been following for a long time. This alone has made the trip worth it! Thank you to @ScottYuJan@LonSeidman and @iJustine for taking the time to take a photo with me!
- I have a newfound respect for creators who cover conventions like this and get content out real-time. It's way more difficult than it looks to find interesting products, hear the pitch, record the footage, and then talk about the product in your own words in just a few minutes time.
Tomorrow will be a big media day with a lot of different companies doing their keynotes. My goal is to get a ticket to the Lenovo Sphere event! Rumor has it that Gwen Stefani will be making a special appearance!
It's been 7 days since I chose a second random winner of the 1,000 subscriber giveaway. However, I have not heard from that individual either. This method of choosing a winner isn't working out too well, so I'll be making a new 1,000 subscriber giveaway with new rules soon. It will probably involve subscribing and commenting on a video so that I know who is active on the Youtube platform. Please stay tuned!
My full review of the Torras Ostand Q3 Air case for the iPhone 17 Pro Max is up now! If you've been seeing ads for this case all over your social media feeds, then this video is for you.
I've been thinking about this for a while and @mkbhd's recent car video confirms it: China is WAY ahead in terms of consumer electronic car technology and US car makers are lucky they don't have to compete with these amazing vehicles right now. Check out the full video here:
Apple TV has some incredible sci-fi shows! My favorite right now is Pluribus, which is created by Vince Gilligan. You may know him from a little show called "Breaking Bad" =). There have only been 6 episodes so far, but it's been so fun tuning in weekly and then reading the reddit discussions, theories, easter eggs, and breakdowns afterwards. Do you watch any Apple TV shows? Let me know in the comments!
