14 years ago today on March 11th 2012 after MONTHS of convincing my parents I finally got my first YouTube account, I named it “halloweenguy101” because I loved halloween and had no other ideas. the day I made the account I posted my first ever YouTube video which was called “the gecko dance”. It was under 3 minutes and just my lepeard gecko izzy trying to climb out of her tank (rip) from there I made even more pet videos and then one day I decided to live up to the name of “halloweenguy101” and made a halloween themed video. I found my jumping vampire prop and filmed it. That’s all it was, a video of a halloween decoration in action. And honesty that was my secret sauce. I made so many more halloween prop videos after that and then I stated to film videos of stores halloween selections. In 2013 I filmed a video of my local spirit halloween and somehow that video got 40,000 views… absolutely wild. I ran my channel for a good 3/4 years before I wanted to spice things up. So in 2015 I created another channel called “Brian motionless” affectionately named after my favorite band at the time motionless in white. On that channel I made parody videos and music related videos. It was the channel where I explored my teenage angst and uploaded the cringe on the internet forever. That channel scared me however because since I was in high school at the time, all my friends and enemies found it and began to even tell teachers.. how embarrassing. It was also the first time when I discovered that putting yourself out there welcomes bullies into your life. And unfortunately that bullying lasted with me up until college. Many people said I was stupid for posting and that I would never make it. Believe it or not it was embarrassing to have an online presence back then. But that never stopped me. Eventually towrds the end of high school I wanted to start fresh with YouTube and I made my “Breeyahn” channel at the end of 2017. This channel really had no identity. I just uploaded whatever I wanted. I did vlogs, I did some tech content (which by the way my first ever what’s on my iPhone was posted alllll the way back in 2016) I did more music related content even did some video essays. However this point in my life I became numbers obsessed. I tired so so hard to break 100 subs on that channel to no luck. My videos would rarely get over 100 views let alone 50 and for a while I gave up. In 2021 I started posting on my current channel and focused on tech and tired again. and thank god that I did. My videos finally started to get views and lots of them. I made a few iPhone unboxing that broke over 1,000 view each! Numbers I have not seen in 8 or 9 years! In January 2024 I made a commitment to YouTube and broke 100 subscribers for the first time on a channel since my first! And ever since I have been having success I only dreamed of. YouTube has always been my passion, I used to dream of going on Ellen for my viral videos lol. I loved watching it growing up and wanted to make it my career, and finally i can see it ahead of me. never give up on your dream or passions, they can take you places you never imagined. Here’s to another 14 years on YouTube.

i wanna first thank everyone for the amazing love and support I have recieved here. it truly means the world to me, and I appreciate it more than you know! as a creator you can really fast be wrapped up in the numbers. and anytime a piece of content that you poured your heart and soul into doesn't perform the way you expect, it really devastates you. i take youtube as my art form, and attaching numbers to art truly crushes the soul. my goal since i started youtube way back when i was 12 years old was to make it a career. i feel like i am so so so close to that, and it makes me so happy. but with that, i have to work on my strategy. while two uploads a month has made it so i can put out quality content, i still think i need work with the type of content i put out. i think i'm going to take the next month away from long form uploads to really strategize. i'll still post shorts! i think this will help me really make sure i'm putting out the right content that gets seen by more people. we're so close to 1k that i think this break might be best to really put out the best content in april and forward.
