As Foo fighters Dave Grohl said about the song Learn to fly: "It's about the search for some sort of inspiration, the search for signs of life that will make you feel alive." This sums up what happened to us, a couple of nerds who survived high school and learned to fly. Everything is a learning experience. No matter what is going on in your life, you dissect it, analyze it and learn from it.

We are interested in so many things and our channel reflects that. Travel, art, design, nature, animals, Disney.

We worked for Walt Disney World for over 20 years in a department called Artist Prep Support and then stepped away to have a little more control over our time and our artwork. We started up a creative business that sometimes does set design and theming. In our free time we create our own artwork from recycled materials and photos of our travel.

I guess you could say we are just Nerds learning to fly.

The Post:
Surprise! We’re still alive—and we come bearing artifacts. 🕯️🗺️

It has been a minute. Okay, a month. Between the end-of-year tax filings for Nexxtleft (the administrative version of scraping rot out of a camper floor), holiday social marathons, and planning our upcoming expedition to Bhutan, the "Calamity Magnet" has had to sit tight.

While Cory has been knee-deep in wiring harnesses for Le Calamita, I’ve been doing a bit of mental time travel. I’ve been digging through 2016 footage from Nepal to prep for our 2026 Bhutan Annual Meeting. Turns out, my "Renaissance Brain" doesn't know how to just do one thing at a time, so while the camper was on a brief hiatus, we decided to build an entire Alpine Citadel in our dining room. 🏔️✨

Our latest video is a deep dive into The Schomburg-Lefleur Expedition—a fully immersive S.E.A. (Society of Explorers and Adventurers) themed dinner party. We’re talking secret wax seals, "geological" centerpieces, and a menu inspired by Disney legends.

It’s proof that whether we are rebuilding a soggy 2000 trailer or crafting a fictional field report, the struggle is always an adventure.

The video is live now! Go check out the "Inner Sanctum" and let us know: If you were in S.E.A., what would your specialty be? (I think we’ve officially claimed "Structural Archeology of Accidental Projects").

See you in the comments! 🧭

Merry Christmas Eve from the middle of a Calamity! 🎄🔧

The "time travel" is officially over. We’ve spent the last few weeks in the high altitudes of our 2016 Nepal footage, but today, we are officially back in the grit of 2025.

While I was deep in Bhutan logistics with Uniquetreks.com, Cory was deep in the bones of Le Calamita. And as it turns out, re-wiring a rotten camper with salvaged 14-gauge Romex is the ultimate test of a 24-year marriage.

In just a couple of hours, our newest video uploads. It’s a raw look at The Communication Circuit. You’ll see the exact moment I realized that being an expert in color theory and repurposing junk doesn't mean I should tell Cory how to run a 12-volt system.

Sometimes the best "holiday gift" you can give your partner is just staying out of their way.

Grab some cocoa, settle in, and get ready for the return of the rebuild. The "Calamity" is back, and the adventure is just getting started.

The final chapter of our Nepal Revisited series is live today at 4pm 🏔️

Today we’re exploring the incredible "City of Fine Arts," Patan. From the serene Golden Temple to the resilient spirit of Durbar Square, it was the perfect end to a transformative journey.

You might be wondering why we took this "detour" from our Le Calamita camper renovation. The truth is, the inspiration found us! While deep in the planning stages for our upcoming trip to Bhutan with UniqueTreks.com (the same amazing company that organized our 2016 Nepal trek), I realized I had never actually finished editing the footage from that life-changing month in Nepal.

I couldn't head into a new Himalayan adventure without properly honoring the last one. Seeing how much the people and landscape of Nepal moved us—from the 53-mile Poon Hill trek to the rhinos of Chitwan—has me even more excited for what's next.

Thank you for joining us on this look back. Now that the dust has settled on the Nepal archives, it’s time to get back to work! Stay tuned for more Le Calamita updates and the beginning of our Bhutan journey.

From the Himalayas back to the "Calamity" 🏔️🛠️

If you’ve been following along lately, you’ve noticed we’ve taken a bit of a digital detour. While Cory and I have been knee-deep in end-of-year business for Nexxtleft and I've been coordinating our upcoming 2026 Bhutan expedition with the team at Uniquetreks.com, I fell down a rabbit hole.

Planning for Bhutan (the same company that helped us in 2016!) finally pushed me to finish editing our footage from Nepal. It’s been beautiful to revisit those mountains, but it's also a stark contrast to the view out my window right now.

Le Calamita is still here, waiting. And she’s been a busy "Magnet" for trouble.

We have a update coming on December 24rd that shifts us back into the 2025 rebuild. It’s not just about structural rot or the 14-gauge Romex Cory’s been pulling from our old house flips; it’s a raw look at what happens to a 24-year marriage when a project gets this intense.

We’re calling it a lesson in "The Communication Circuit"—and trust me, the sparks were flying in more ways than one.

While the Nepal videos roll out, catch up on the full journey of the "Calamity" so far at the link below. The adventure continues on the 23rd!

Why do I upload videos to YouTube? Losing my mom to dementia really makes me aware how important our memories are to us. By spending time editing videos I find that it really exercises my mind and cements the memories in my brain. I also love having a record of our trips to look back on. I am not planning on succumbing to dementia but it is something that runs in my mothers side of the family. I hope that by recording all of my adventures I am improving my memory and at the same time insuring that I have a place that I can go to relive them.
