Cheer up! Relief is at hand. The first #MONSOON #RAIN SPELL of this season is expected in the upper and central parts of the country starting from Kashmir on Saturday (24th June) as moisture penetration from the Arabian sea and Bay of Bengal will increase as a result of a low pressure area present over central India. An active Western disturbance would interact with these fresh eastern moisture-laden winds, thus increasing #Monsoon activity in upper & central parts. In Sha Allah

🔵 As a result of these systems, scattered to fairly widespread LIGHT to MODERATE #WIND_THUNDERSTORM-#RAINFALL along with Scattered HEAVY #RAIN is possible between Saturday (24th June) and Friday (30th June) in KP, Upper/Central and some southern Punjab,, Azad Kashmir, IOK, parts of Balochistan as well as including the twin cities of #Rawalpindi/ #Islamabad (In Sha Allah).

🔵 The timings of thunderstorms can vary and pinpointing their exact location is not possible but good chances in the night and morning hours. PLEASE NOTE THAT MONSOON IS VERY ERRATIC NOWADAYS. SOME AREAS CAN GET HEAVY RAINFALL WHILE NEARBY AREAS CAN REMAIN DRY.

🔵 Moreover, #WINDSTORMS/ #DUSTSTORMS are also possible in isolated areas with Max. wind gusts up to 70-100 km/h. Heavy downpours can't be ruled out.

🔵 #Temperature will also reduce by 6-9°C in the coming days bringing much needed relief. However, since this is the monsoon season - weather will remain muggy due to humidity.

🔵 #ADVISORY: ⚠️
Heavy rains during this time may cause localized #FLASH #FLOODS especially in rivers, hill torrents, Nullahs and low lying areas in urban & downtown areas. Travelling in mountainous areas during this time especially night/early-morning is not advised. Water levels in major river catchments and reservoirs may improve hopefully In Sha Allah.
