“If you read history you will find that the Christians who did the most for the present world were just those who thought most of the next.
The Apostles themselves, who set on foot the conversion of the Roman Empire, the great men who built up the Middle Ages, the English Evangelicals who abolished the Slave Trade, all left their mark on Earth, precisely because their minds were occupied with Heaven.
It is since Christians have largely ceased to think of the other world that they have become so ineffective in this.”
Sweet Jesus
Return to the Lord your God!
We have all wandered at some point.
We have all felt like we didn’t need God.
We have all rejected his will and his ways.
We have all acted as if we didn’t need him, even as his words and praises were on our lips.
We have all had moments when we realized how helpless we truly are on our own.
Today is Ash Wednesday, marking the beginning of Lent, a season of returning to the Lord.
Know that returning to the Lord is a return to the gracious God of all creation, the King of Heaven and earth.
He is gracious - blessing us even when we don’t deserve it.
He is merciful - forgiving any and every sin for the sake of Christ.
He is slow to anger - you aren’t returning to a ticking time bomb just waiting for an excuse to explode.
He is abounding in steadfast love - he loves you more than anyone else can or will, remaining faithFULL though we are often faithLESS.
He relents of allowing the full weight of the consequences of our sins fall upon us, instead taking them upon himself.
He knows you cannot be fully human, nor fully alive without him.
He is calling out to you everyday, but especially today.
Return to the Lord.
Not a building or institution.
Not a political party or particular pastor.
Not a religious system designed to crush your spirit.
Not a love only given based on performance.
Return to the LORD.
He is the one your heart truly longs for.
Not the money you think will satisfy you.
Not the promotion that will make all your dreams come true.
Not the admiration of your colleagues.
Not the romantic partner you think can satisfy.
The Lord Jesus Christ is the only one that satisfies spiritual hunger, spiritual thirst, and all the deepest desires of your heart.
And he is waiting with arms wide open to receive you once again.
Return to the Lord. Today.

Jesus, thank you for a joy that nothing else can beat, and nothing else can take away.

Sweet Jesus
Ice cream anyone???
If YOU haven’t found satisfying a testimony to share that helps people see how sweet Jesus is, let’s sit down and talk over some ice cream.
“Taste and see that the Lord is GOOD!”
Ice cream is sweet but Jesus is sweeter.
