Sonic Mania has pretty much become the DOOM of Sonic Games. It's being ported on everything!
It's been ported on:
PS Vita
3DS
PSP
Xbox 360 / Playstation 3
Wii / Wii U
Sega Dreamcast
Now apparently a Sega Saturn and 32x port is in the works.
imo, I feel like the game fits best as a Sega Saturn game. It did felt like the Saturn Sonic game that we never got.

I am Vine Gar! Guardian of the Sacred Vinegar.
When I was born, I lacked the ability to smell. I couldn't smell the perfumes, I couldn't smell the lovely flowers, I couldn't smell the freshly baked pie, I couldn't even smell a lump of shit if I wanted too!
But 1 day, I was able to smell something. It's the smell of vinegar! But not a normal vinegar... I followed the scent throughout the town, through the woods, through the horde of flesh eating goblins, climbed a mountain, and discovered a cave.
I continued following the scent in the cave and discovered a door. I open it up and what I have found is the most precious thing I had laid my eyes upon...
The Sacred Vinegar!
And I was chosen to guard this vinegar at all times. Those who have taste this vinegar will witness the purest taste none have ever tasted, and anyone who dares try to take the sacred vinegar will feel the wrath of Vine Gar and my mighty AXE!!!
I also have no nose hairs.
