Monitoring of the crop established with the MATADOR MO seed drill has delivered interesting results

Throughout this year, we have been continuously sharing updates from the monitoring of a crop established using the MATADOR MO seed drill. The field, previously harvested for silage maize, was loosened to a depth of 15 cm before seeding, which took place on October 18, 2024. The selected variety was Reform, and due to the late seeding date, the seeding rate was set at 4 million germinable seeds per hectare (MGS/ha). The crop row structure was based on a variable spacing of 12.5 – 25 – 12.5 cm.

A control variant was established in a neighboring plot, where winter wheat (also variety Reform) was sown using a universal seed drill on October 22, 2024. In this case, the soil was also cultivated to a depth of 15 cm prior to sowing, followed by seedbed preparation. The seeding rate was again 4 MGS/ha.

Harvest results in August revealed a significant yield difference:

The crop sown with the MATADOR MO seed drill achieved a yield of 10.17 t/ha
The control crop in the neighboring plot yielded 8.94 t/ha (universal seed drill)

FENIX FO_PROFI in an interesting configuration? This unit is heading to its new owner in Ukraine.
It’s a FENIX FO 6004 PROFI model with a working width of 6.7 meters. The machine is equipped with hydraulic working depth adjustment, hydraulic AUTO-RESET tine protection with a release force of 660 kg, LONG LIFE 40 mm points, LONG LIFE 185 mm wings, and a rear double V-RING packer.

A standout feature of this machine is the factory-installed fertiliser application set. Fertiliser is pneumatically delivered from a air-cart or front hopper to a distribution head, from which it is applied directly behind the tine into the soil profile.

Thanks to a simple mechanism, fertiliser can also be applied on the soil surface, or both into the soil and on the surface in a single pass.
