This weekend I watched Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and one question stayed with me:
“Who are you going to be?”
Peter Parker…
or Spider-Man?
His answer:
“Both.”
That made me think.
Life has asked me similar questions.
Peter… or Pedro?
New York… or Puerto Rico?
English… or Spanish?
For a long time, I thought leadership meant choosing one identity over another.
I’ve learned the opposite.
My New York story and my Puerto Rican roots don’t compete—they strengthen one another.
The same is true for leadership.
The leaders who create the greatest impact don’t shrink themselves to fit someone else’s expectations.
They integrate their experiences, values, and identity into the way they lead.
Maybe your greatest superpower isn’t becoming someone else.
Maybe it’s having the courage to fully embrace the person you were created to be.
Because authentic leadership begins when you stop choosing between different parts of yourself—and start leading from the strength of your whole story.
