I had problem Benjamin Moore Arborcoat translucent Mahogany classic oil finish stain. The deck turned black in 7 months probably less. I didn't see the problem until I went back to this house to do some interior painting. I ended up pressure washing the deck for free. My customer never complained but I was upset about this. I fix the issue last July but this has been bugging me since. I reached out to Benjamin Moore last week. They had a local sales rep call me. He didn't blame but he was insinuating maybe i did something wrong or several other factors but not the product failing. He agreed to come look at the deck and take pictures and see if the batch of stain was the problem sometimes that happens. But I'm sure he knew that the customer reviews were so bad for Arborcoat that Benjamin Moore discontinued the product and now changed to Woodlux. the reviews complained about the stain failing. Mold and mildew growing above and below the surface and application issue and colors not matching the samples. The rep said I shouldn't have done two coats. But Benjamin Moore recommended two coats for an even finish, and even three coats is recommended if needed. He said there's linseed oil in Arborcoat and mildew feeds on that. One of Arborcoats selling points was it's a mildew resistant stain. That's from Benjamin Moore I found that on Google. As I started researching this, it's well documented that the Arborcoat line of stain had issues and was discontinued. I'm upset that the Rep wouldn't take accountability. He wants me to drive 2 hours round trip to meet at the house so he can investigate what happened I told him I'm a Youtuber and I take videos of everything. I can send you the video of the entire process. Before during and after. Why waste any more of my time. When you know Arborcoat had problems. Anyway. at my expense fixed the issue. I'm a small one man operation. Benjamin Moore, a multi billion dollar company can't help a contractor who has used their products for 30 year's and promotes them on my platforms regularly. It doesn't make sense. I'll leave a video in comments so you can see for yourself
