Hey everyone! New video will be out Monday (or you can watch it right now if you join my Patreon). In the meantime, check out my community post from 11 days ago for my National Poetry Month prompt. You have until tomorrow to leave your work in the comments of that post--responding to the prompt--and it might pop up in the last video of April 👀
Hey everyone! Want to see your work in an upcoming video? With April being National Poetry Month, I'm here to give you a prompt! Submit by April 19th and you might see your piece appear in the last video of this month. Here is the prompt:
You must write a poem in one of these forms: ghazal, tanka, villanelle, pantoum, sestina, or sonnet (either Shakespearean, Petrarchan, or Spenserian). Your pom must also include six of the following ten words: magenta, trickle, crepuscular, rabid, flotsam, honey, static, sensual, genuine, bijou. If you really want to challenge yourself, you can try to include all ten, but that's not a requirement.
I will randomly select one poem of each form to break down in the video. Please only submit one poem; choose your form wisely. Comment your piece down below. Here's hoping we get enough submissions to make this work, haha. Hope you're all having a great Poetry Month!
What are some of your POETRY HOT TAKES? Comment on this post and your thoughts might find their way in an upcoming video 👀
A couple of mine would be that I don't like Charles Bukowski and I have a bit of a negative bias toward repetition. But what about you? Do you have hot takes on poetry as an art form? On any particular poets? On the trajectory of poetry, the publishing world, the business end of things, poetry on social media, etc.? Anything and everything pertaining to poetry, I wanna hear about it.
Hey everyone! As promised, I wanted to update you all on the donation to the Community Justice Exchange. The Renee Nicole Good video didn't perform super well, but my other videos have been doing well enough, and I felt realistically, I could donate more than just the adsense on the Renee video alone. So, I donated $100 to the Pretrial Bail Freedom Fund, and $100 to the Immigration Bond Freedom Fund, with $20 in tips to ActBlue Charities. Thank you all for watching my videos! This is possible because of you. Here are links to donate to the CJE or to Minnesotans if you feel so inclined:
