This channel is dedicated to Zen, meditation, and life. My hope is that it can be valuable for anyone looking to investigate life, understand themselves, and respond to this world in a clear and helpful way. If you are interested in working with me or have a question, please reach out anytime.

Sorry I haven’t been able to post a long-form video the last couple of weeks—I’m not even sure how many people follow those anyway! In any case, we’ve had a longtime friend, Tam, visiting us for the past few weeks. Tam is one of my closest dharma friends for over 26 years! (The photo is of Tam and me back in 2008—we really need to take a current one together!) Tam will be stepping in as the new caretaker at Empty Gate Zen Center.
Last weekend the Zen Center held a two-day work retreat, and we got the chance to clean the whole place and paint the caretaker’s room. On top of that, I’ve been spending a lot of time helping my son get set up for homeschooling these past couple of weeks.

Sometimes we miss our deadlines or just can’t get to the things we want to do. In those moments, it’s important to pause and ask: What is most important in this life? I think if we were on our deathbeds right now, most of what we worry about wouldn’t matter much at all. But if we’re clear about “what is the most important thing,” then our whole life becomes clear—no matter how difficult it may seem.
Have a clear day!

If you have been following my Patreon page, you know that the last few weeks have been very interesting. Here are a few words for the New Year.
If you saw this world as yourself,
What kind of world would it be?
If you cannot see this world as yourself,
What is it that keeps you apart?
Great Doubt, Great Courage, Great Faith—
Swallow the dualistic view.
The path of love and compassion
Is clear, here and now.
Where is it? Look closely.
Have a clear! New Year, everyone!
Be sure to check out my live events in the next couple of weeks, including a New Year YouTube livestream on Thursday, January 9th.

Today, on day 11, we spent most of the day heading back to Aquiraz.
