My favorite part of retro game shopping in Japan is that sometimes you find these unique items.
These are cartridge sleeves made by certain video game stores that no longer exist, in the case of “Famicom Shop Top Boy” they even have a whole character/mascot set with their own lore and everything. A really cool look into the videogame scene from back in the day.

And she works! After a solid 3 days of vinegar soaks, scrubbing and hacking together new parts I finally got my Game Boy Printer to work!
Just in time too since I just finished modding it with the 2BitToy kit. Now I just need some replacement paper since the original one doesn’t print as well anymore. Will update when I get replacements!

And that’s all 8 badges! I wanted to experience Pokémon Gold in its original form since I never got to as a kid.
It seems I really missed out since it’s an improvement on the original in every way. From the day/night cycle to the story continuing 3 years after red/green.
Now it’s off to the indigo league and then maybe a full dex? Heard crystal was a lot of fun too so I don’t mind going through it again with some slightly improved graphics.
What do you think about the original Gold?
