Last single “Neckline” is out today for deluxe 🥲

I was thinking about how much I’ve grown since we released “Morricone” in 2023 and started this whole process. The deluxe version of “Neckline” was so fun for me to record because we got to give so much time to the harmonies, Daniel running back and forth between the recording booth, Nate trying some notes on piano, the feeling when a new harmony slotted into place. Singing is the one thing I’ve felt confident about, but that’s changing !! because I’ve been working so hard at my instruments. Anyway I love the pad at the end of this song that reminds me of Legally Blonde. I love Alex’s art for this inspired by the sort of grotesque smile at the end of Pearl which is so perfect for this bid at a pop song. I love that meat dress #2 got to live on this single art, Jasmine’s recreation of the Lady Gaga meat dress. I’m so lucky I got to make all this music with all these amazing people!! What a ride it has been 🥩🎈❣️

Time for my annual aura photograph and some show announcements 🚨🍂🍁

In reverse chronological order we’ve got the deluxe album release celebration on November 9th!!! Can’t tell you how excited I am for this. We’re going to do special arrangements of the songs with friends singing with us, I’ll read an essay, and we’ll have poems from Juliet Gelfman-Randazzo and Von Wise all at Launderette Records!! I wrote this during my move from Tennessee to Philly. I was gutted to be losing my music community and I felt lonely in a new place. We had just finished recording the album and going on tour, and I needed to write something to know that I could do it. It feels like the bridge to the next LP, or maybe the last creative breath of this first record. It is a remnant of that period of my writing life. I’m not hurting in the same ways I was, and a couple years later I feel extraordinarily lucky for how both cities have shaped my creative internal world. I hope you like it! It’s a touch country I think :) Daniel and I were very excited about the Big Thief drums and Max killed it!!! Link in stories to listen~
