Recently I've seen two much larger history-centric YT channels post videos bemoaning the current state of what the YT algorithm is promoting (clearly not history content!). They both said that in the last 18 months or so they have seen a marked decline in views as YT focuses on promoting other forms of content and subjects.

I too have oberserved a sharp drop-off in views over the last year. I don't feel I am entitled to anything on this platform but I would love to at least get back to when it felt like the channel was growing and progressing.

Regardless, I will keep going as I just love the entire process of creating my spy stories and sharing them with you. The next two videos are already in production.

It was a resounding 'yes' from those who responded to my recent community post asking whether I should upload podcast-style deep dives to accompany my True Life Spy Stories. I've finished the edit on my Ana Montes debriefing. I'm still in two minds as to whether I should post the videos on YouTube, or save it for Spotify, but I'll upload later today to see how it goes on the main channel!

So much of the research for my videos ends up on the cutting room floor. The format of my videos (and to a degree the YouTube algorithm) means that I gloss over a ton of detail. Would you be interested in a deep dive, podcast style video as a follow up to each spy story where I talk through some my research notes to cover interesting aspects of the stories not covered in my main video?

I've taken my latest video on Sasha Litvinenko down due to a claim by the copyright holder of the Rebellion: The Litvinenko Case documentary, of which I featured a few clips. I'll re-upload once I've edited those out. Be right back!
