Even mature Christians can be duped by false teachers. That is why Jesus warned His disciples to watch out for impostors in Matthew 24. Do you know the warning signs? Although false prophets are not easy to spot, the Bible gives several warnings. It also helps us know what to do when we encounter a “wolf in sheep’s clothing.”
The apostle John tells us something that sometimes surprises Christians when they read it: “The whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one” (1 John 5:19)—meaning Satan influences and has a measure of power over the world. But John also tells us, “[God] who is in you is greater than [Satan] who is in the world” (1 John 4:4). We have read the final chapter; we are on the winning side in all things.
According to Isaiah 40:31, those who wait upon the Lord “shall mount up with wings like eagles.” But Jesus warned against becoming entangled with “the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches” (Matthew 13:22). It’s easy for us to become tangled in sin at just the moment we should be soaring by faith.
The next time you find yourself enthralled with wonder, let your thoughts go to the Source of all wonder: God Himself. Enjoy the moment and give thanks to Him.

I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify Him with thanksgiving. This also shall please the Lord.

There is no better way to begin and end our prayers than to praise God for who He is and what He has done.
