Hello denizens. In my Green Light or Not review of AppleTV's Murderbot pilot episode I groused about the mandatory DEI casting. People who have read the books told me that they believed this to be a parody of a New Society. Having seen 5 episodes I can sort of see that. If that was the case and I missed the clues in the pilot I still stand by my observation that the crew is dull and boring and would not pass muster on an old-style network TV show. If they were supposed to be a parody then they should have gone all Community on it. They should have gone all in on the lesbian couple, had them in their lovey-dovey phase at the start and then watch them descend into bickering ignoring their mission. That would have been funny and driven the characters. Yes, the crew showed a bit of Marxist parody but not enough. I will include these observations in my final verdict episode. I wished they had really gone for it if this was in fact the point.
