As dialysis nurses, we have seen patients suffer from chronic kidney disease and other comorbidities.
In celebration of #WorldKidneyDay we would like to encourage you to love your kidneys.
π§ 1. Stay Well Hydrated Drink enough water so your urine is light yellow or clear. Most adults benefit from about 1.5β2.5 L/day, depending on activity and climate.
π§ 2. Reduce Salt Intake Too much salt raises blood pressure and strains kidneys. Limit processed foods, instant noodles, and salty snacks.
π₯ 3. Eat a Kidney-Friendly Diet Focus on fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean protein. Limit highly processed foods and excessive red meat. Foods rich in antioxidants help protect kidney cells.
π 4. Stay Physically Active Regular exercise helps maintain healthy blood pressure and weight. These are key factors in preventing Chronic Kidney Disease.
π 6. Be Careful with Painkillers Overuse of drugs like Ibuprofen or Diclofenac can damage kidneys over time. Use them only when necessary and as directed.
π 7. Avoid Smoking Smoking reduces blood flow to the kidneys and speeds kidney damage.
πΊ 8. Limit Alcohol Excess alcohol can increase blood pressure and harm kidney function.
π§ͺ 9. Get Regular Kidney Tests Blood test: creatinine / eGFR Urine test: protein or albumin These help detect kidney problems early.
βοΈ 10. Maintain a Healthy Weight Obesity increases the risk of kidney disease, diabetes, and hypertension.
The past 2 weeks has been a beautiful challenge and I am grateful to God for the strength, patience and positive outlook. Together with our hard working team. π«ΆπΌ

A year ago, I graduated for the 3rd time and it feels so good!
All glory and honour to God, who gave me strength and perseverance.
A crazy woman, who juggled a full-time job, new RN role and 2 post graduate subjects, just to prove that I can do whatever I set my mind to.
Grateful to my supportive husband, the sweetest dogs, loving family and encouraging managers, who pushes me to achieve more.
Life is indeed beautiful and worth it, when you've worked hard for the things that you have. Thank You, Lord Jesus! ππ»

A birthday reflection:
As I grow older, celebrations becomes quieter, circle becomes smaller and being present is all that matters.
Yes, I still have a lot of dreams but now I will trust in God's timing, not mine.
My heart is grateful and full. Life still surprises me and I am just in for the ride. π«ΆπΌ
