Hi and welcome to Route 64.

The name comes from National Cycle Route 64, which runs through Newark on Trent. In a few places it crosses the railway, and that’s how this started. I’d be out on my bike, a train would fly past, and I had to film it.

Now it’s a habit. If I’m cycling and a train appears, I press record. When I travel, I take my GoPro or just my phone and capture railway memories, from the National Railway Museum in York to the London Transport Museum.

In spring 2026 I’m also visiting the National Tramway Museum in Crich.

I upload mostly in the evenings and try to stay consistent.

My home stations are Newark Northgate and Newark Castle. Catching legends like Flying Scotsman or Sir Nigel Gresley there never gets old.

If you enjoy real trackside action and railway trips around the UK, subscribe and join the journey.

All the best.

400 Subscribers! 🥳 A huge thank you to everyone following Route 64.

It’s been an incredible journey capturing the speed of the ECML, the rare sightings at Newark, and the local atmosphere of our town. Whether you're here for the high-speed Azumas, the heavy freight Grids, or the occasional neon light festival, I truly appreciate every view, like, and comment.

More railway action and local gems from Newark-on-Trent coming your way soon. Onwards to 500! 🚄🚲✨

Route 64

Spotted a heavy lifter resting at Newark Northgate today. Colas Rail Class 56 (56049) tucked away on the siding behind the trackside buildings.

Route 64

London vibes! 🎡🏙️

I took a trip to the capital yesterday (Monday, 2 March) to capture a different side of the UK. I’ve just uploaded a cinematic 4K walk across the Golden Jubilee Bridges.

It was a perfect sunny day you can hear the roar of the trains heading into the station behind me and the deep sirens of the ferries on the Thames. It’s a bit of a change from my usual spots around Newark, but that’s what "London & Beyond" is all about.

Check out the new video and let me know what you think of the ambient sound! 🎬🚂 https://youtu.be/qDYl80BNDoA

Route 64

As some of you probably remember, at the start of the year there was that big railway ticket sale. I couldn’t resist… so I booked a trip to the London Transport Museum.

I’m going on 2 March, which is very soon, and it’ll be my first time there.

If you’ve been before, what should I not miss? Any specific galleries, vehicles, small details that are easy to walk past?

I don’t have loads of time to prepare, so I’m relying on you a bit here.

Let me know what to focus on. I want to make the most of it… and of course I’ll be filming.

Route 64

Hi everyone,

I guess this is the “official” hello to the Community tab.

There are 393 of you here now, which honestly still surprises me a bit. Most of the time it’s just me, a bike, a passing train and a camera… and then later I see the views coming in. Feels a bit surreal.

I’d love to use this space to talk more, not just upload and disappear. So tell me what you actually enjoy most on Route 64. Fast non-stop expresses? Heritage locomotives? More museum trips? Or maybe more cycling spots where the line meets the path?

If you’ve been here for a while, thank you. If you’re new, welcome. Properly.

Let’s build this into a small but solid railway corner of YouTube.

See you trackside.
