Can You Pay ₦127,000 to Sleep in a hotel in a Village? 😳🇳🇬

This was one of the things that genuinely surprised me when I visited Arochukwu, the hometown of Abia State Governor Alex Otti.

At first, I thought: “Wait… a hotel this big, in a village?”

But then I discovered Alpha-Plus Hotel, also known as Winpher by AA91, a purpose-built lodging facility located along 91 Iyiocha Road, Amuvi Village, Arochukwu.

And here’s the interesting part: a room can go for as much as ₦127,000.

Think about that for a moment.

Someone invested hundreds of millions of naira into building and maintaining a hotel like this in a rural community where many investors would normally be scared to put that kind of money because of the fear that “who will even patronize it?”

But Arochukwu surprised me.

Because this wasn’t the only hotel we came across. There are several hospitality businesses springing up around the town.

It made me wonder, What do these investors know about Arochukwu that the rest of us don’t?

Maybe villages in Nigeria are changing faster than we realize… and perhaps the next big tourism destination could be hiding far away from the major cities.

Would you personally pay ₦127,000 to stay in a hotel in a village?

We watched a $350 million dream fade away.”

I visited Tinapa Resort, and it was heartbreaking. Built to attract foreign investors and transform Nigerian tourism, years of neglect and damage during the #EndSARS unrest left much of it abandoned.

Can Tinapa rise again, or is it already too late?

WALK WITH SIMON

Nobody beats me at this game 😂😂
I’ve been the undefeated champion since I was 7 years old.

But here’s what most people don’t know…

I stopped playing it for years.

When I was 7, there was this friend of mine who loved the game so much. One evening, he kept begging all of us to play at our house. We were tired. We had already played too much. So we turned him down.
“Tomorrow,” we said.

Tomorrow never came for him.

The next morning, we woke up to the news that he had died that night. Just like that.
My grandmother(who is now late) took us to see him… covered with plantain leaves. I can still remember that moment clearly. I cried like a child who didn’t understand life.

From that day, I was scared to even touch the game. Every time I saw it, I remembered his voice begging us to play “just one more round.”

Years passed.

Today, I picked up that game again for the first time since I was 7. And while I was playing, everyone kept asking, “Why are you so good at this?”

I smiled.

They didn’t know I wasn’t just playing to win.
I was playing with memories.
I was playing for the little boy who never got his tomorrow.

Sometimes, the things we run away from are tied to the people we love.
And sometimes, facing them again is how we heal.

I’m still the champion.
But this time, I play with gratitude.
