Why do I still have to pay service charges every year after buying a house? 😮💨💰
Imagine buying a house in an estate in Lagos for ₦500 million, only to still pay about ₦16 million every single year in service charges! 😳
But what happens if one year things go bad and I can’t afford the ₦16 million? Will they refund my ₦500 million? 😂 Will they seize the house? Or send me packing?
Honestly, if I had ₦500 million, I’d probably do things differently.
I’ll use about ₦50 million to build a beautiful house in my village, rent a decent apartment in Lagos for maybe ₦2 million a year, and put the remaining money into serious investments that can generate income.
Because for me, having ₦500 million shouldn’t mean spending everything just to maintain a house. 🤔
But if ₦500 million landed in your account today, what would YOU do with it? 👀
I still can’t believe I spent just ₦2,200 traveling from Umuahia to Abiriba and back! 🇳🇬
Normally, if you take a regular bus or Sienna, you could spend about ₦5,300 going to Abiriba and another ₦4,000 coming back that’s roughly ₦9,300 altogether! 😭
But guess what? I only spent ₦1,200 from Umuahia to Abiriba and ₦1,000 back to Umuahia simply because I got an Abia Connect Card.
That means I saved about ₦7,100 on just one trip!
Honestly, this is the kind of development that makes traveling around Abia more exciting and affordable. ❤️
₦9,300 normally… ₦2,200 with Abia electric Vehicles. Abeg, who else has been using this card?
Can You Pay ₦127,000 to Sleep in a hotel in a Village? 😳🇳🇬
This was one of the things that genuinely surprised me when I visited Arochukwu, the hometown of Abia State Governor Alex Otti.
At first, I thought: “Wait… a hotel this big, in a village?”
But then I discovered Alpha-Plus Hotel, also known as Winpher by AA91, a purpose-built lodging facility located along 91 Iyiocha Road, Amuvi Village, Arochukwu.
And here’s the interesting part: a room can go for as much as ₦127,000.
Think about that for a moment.
Someone invested hundreds of millions of naira into building and maintaining a hotel like this in a rural community where many investors would normally be scared to put that kind of money because of the fear that “who will even patronize it?”
But Arochukwu surprised me.
Because this wasn’t the only hotel we came across. There are several hospitality businesses springing up around the town.
It made me wonder, What do these investors know about Arochukwu that the rest of us don’t?
Maybe villages in Nigeria are changing faster than we realize… and perhaps the next big tourism destination could be hiding far away from the major cities.
Would you personally pay ₦127,000 to stay in a hotel in a village?
I visited Tinapa Resort, and it was heartbreaking. Built to attract foreign investors and transform Nigerian tourism, years of neglect and damage during the #EndSARS unrest left much of it abandoned.
