Hey all, I’ve been working on a deep dive about costume designer Eiko Ishioka that’s essentially become a documentary. Along the way I’ve been lucky enough to speak with some amazing creatives who worked with Eiko, including brilliant makeup artist and two time Oscar winner Michele Burke.

We’d been talking for a couple of months and were hoping to have a video chat but sadly Michele could only commit to sending voice notes. Eventually she could not do that, because she had been quite ill; instead she sent me some beautiful insights into her time with Eiko.

This morning I received an email from Michele’s husband telling me she had passed away on Friday. I can only imagine the pain he and the rest of the family are going through. Now of course I feel I need to make a video about Michele; you might know her work from classics such as Interview with a Vampire and Bram Stoker’s Dracula. RIP Michele.x
