I received an unexpected surprise while I spoke on a panel @lafilmschool this weekend: an award from the @cityoflosangeles for the work my team and I are doing with @reelwurld and ‪@JusticeForHire‬ to inspire the youth. I felt privileged to stand next to iconic hip hop journalist @pfrankwilliams, fashion designer @thejaxmalcolm, actors, musicians, authors, and even a tribal chieftain and receive this honor.

The filmmaking panel itself was hosted by the gracious @johnarivers and I will post some mic drop moments from it soon that were filmed by social guru @autumnnoelkelly. I spent most of my prep time doing Tai Chi, to keep my breath-to-movement coordination sharp, which I’m increasingly doing more of before any event. Gratitude for the talents of conscious rap artist @miles.grdn. Special thanks to @betteryouthlive @realtoreelglobal for the event and to our publicist @thelisamalcolm @lynkpublicrelations for aligning the @reelwurld message with the right platforms.

Always grateful to Radford Studios for keeping us in mind for their events that help shape the future of our industry and culture. Last week we attended VICA and gained deeper insight into California’s infrastructure that will continue to power the global media landscape.

Now, more than ever, we need to look at the traditional Hollywood studio system as a resource to build a brighter future driven by knowledge sharing and audience participation in both the creative process and the financial gains.
