처음 자수를 배우던 프랑스 시절,
저는 뭐든 열심히 흡수했고
배운 것들을 나만의 방식으로 표현하는 걸 좋아했어요.

그로부터 꽤 많은 시간이 흘러, 다시 자수를 시작해야겠다 마음먹었을 때
막상 뭐부터 해야 할지 도무지 모르겠더라구요.
그래서 그냥, 일단 뭐든 하자! 하는 용감한(?) 마음으로
그때그때 생각나는 대로 영상을 만들기 시작했습니다.

매 작품마다 주제를 정하고 정성껏 수를 놓았지만,
항상 마음 한켠엔 무언가 나만의 색깔이 빠져있다는 느낌이 들었어요.
그래서 천천히
내가 진짜 좋아하는 게 뭔지, 나다운 게 뭔지를
고민했는데 그 고민의 끝에
나는 오래된 것들을 사랑하는 사람이구나.
라는 결론에 도달했어요.

빈티지 드레스, 한복, 노리개, 단청, 옛 그림, 오래된 문양들.
시간의 결이 느껴지는 것들에 자꾸만 눈이 가더라고요.

이제 그 오래된 것들을 나만의 방식으로
하나씩 천천히 풀어보려 해요.

그 첫 번째 작품이 바로 오늘 선보인 달, 그리고 구름이에요.
동양의 모티브를 뤼네빌 자수와 비즈로 수놓아 보았는데—
동서양이 만나는 이 조합, 어떠셨나요? 😊

When I first learned embroidery in France,
I absorbed everything I could — and loved finding my own way to express what I'd learned.
That was a long time ago.
When I decided to pick up embroidery again, I honestly had no idea where to start.
So I did what any slightly chaotic creative person would do —
just start somewhere, figure it out later!
And that's exactly how I began making videos, one idea at a time.
With every piece, I chose a theme and stitched with care.
But something always felt quietly missing —
that sense of my own voice, my own signature.
So I sat with that feeling for a while.
What do I actually love? What feels truly like me?
And the answer, when it finally came, was simple:
I am someone who loves old things.
Vintage dresses, Korean hanbok, norigae, dancheong, antique paintings, ancient patterns —
anything that carries the texture of time has a way of catching my eye.
So that's the direction I'm taking now —
slowly, tenderly bringing those old, beautiful things to life
in my own way, one piece at a time.
And the first of them is the work I'm sharing with you today: the Moon, and the Clouds.
I embroidered these Eastern motifs using Lunéville technique and beads —
a little conversation between East and West, needle and thread.
