Starting the year off on a high note! Here's my first sketch of 2026 which, I worked on tonight, for an upcoming project. I had no intention of shading it with graphite but I found myself enjoying the hatching process on the body and extended it to the wings. #wip #birddrawing

Title: The scramble and petition of Kenya

📍 As I try to be an artist... one of my huge goals this year is to learn how to draw and paint beyond patterns. I want to also experiment with things like sceneries and also maybe some activism art.
Tonight I couldn't sleep and I did a painting of my perception of what is happening in Kenya right now.
💔 From the Adani deals to the story about minerals, it seems like politicians are scrambling for a piece of Kenya they can loot and exploit completely.
The greed that is currently being witnessed in Kenya is so bad it almost feels so unnatural and that's why I painted the demon looking people who have human features. That's how politicians look to me now.
While they scramble and look to see what more they can loot, we the citizens stand by the window and watch as our country is being torn apart by greed.
I really hope for a better Kenya. I hope we win this revolution ✨️🤲🏿.

📍LONG POST ALERT📍 But I hope you will take your time to read.
👁👃🏿👁See slide 3 for a tweet that pushed me more to create this painting.
📍While I am learning to draw and paint people/ sceneries this time I stepped out of my comfort zone to paint this through out the night because of the amount of pain I have in me regarding how we treat our children in this nation.
📍🙇🏿♀️🙇🏿🙇🏽♂️The plight of the Kenyan child is a piece I made to bring awareness on how mistreatment of kids is so normalised in this country that even when we lose them to a fire, how they are treated in boarding schools, when they they face sexual and mental abuse or when they pass away in school because of one thing or another... we tend to just "move on?".
📍🏫🚸 The Endarasha incident should have brought the country to a standstill but instead no one from the proper government offices/ agencies properly addressed it and they decide to donate rice and beans. That to me was a big "F U" to the children and parents and then they never bring it up again. No one had questioned the owners of the school and when Kenyans went to look for answers themselves... they were faced with roadblocks.
📍 Aside from that... idk about your feeds online but I have been seeing a lot of missing children and this should worry us as a nation because where are these kids? Who is taking them? Why?
😔💔 We as a Kenyan society need to do more for our children... we owe it to them to make their environments safe and fun to grow and play in.
