It may have quite a scorcher in the UK. But has a heatwave ever affected any TV broadcasts? Surprisingly yes!

On July 26th 2006, Turner had a major power cut caused by the heatwave and thunderstorms overnight in Soho, London

The result in this caused quite a mix-up. Boomerang, along with it's sister channel Toonami was broadcasting CN all of the sudden, while CN TOO and Boomerang +1 was off the air.

The channels would then become unavailable altogether. Once they were back up however, they weren't running their usual schedules.

Boomerang and CN Too has The Flintstones non-stop while CN had a selection of Cartoon Cartoons. No ad breaks, just an ident played inbetween each episode/show.

Scrolling text on the screen would read "We apologise for the disruption to this programme due to technical problems and we are trying to correct the fault. We will resume normal programming as soon as possible" in multiple languages.

The channel websites were also down during this inconvenience.

As for the other channels, CN TOO would also be running the Flintstones.

Toonami's backup is still a mystery, due to very little info. Having just rebranded their channel in February with live-action shows, to which many viewers weren't positive about.

This technical fault eventually recovered sometime on July 27th, with CN Too being the last channel to return to normal.

While no video footage of these exist, I can definitely remember during that day, flicking over to Boomerang seeing The Flintstones.

There is a recreation made by a YouTuber online.

We're not 100% is this how it occurred, but it's a vague idea.

We don't have the schedules to check what should've run. the closest we found in July was Scooby Doo, so we assume it was during the Scooby Summer takeover.

Well, here's a find we almost got our hands on, but didn't. The very first issue of Toonerang, which we mentioned a while back, features Scooby, Tom & Jerry, Fred and Bugs Bunny on the cover. Source claims this came out in November 2004, and came with 3 free gifts.

No further images were shown, but recapping on what's included, there'd be a comic strip for Daffy Duck, Flintstones, Tom & Jerry and Scooby Doo. The rest would be similar to CN Magazine.

This is going for auction on eBay, but the starting bid seemed a bit much. Reasons for not placing a bid, well... the seller had other magazines up for sale, and one was ridiculously expensive.

Will this item show up again? Let's hope we can find copies of this lost gem. We'd love to showcase some of these issues on the channel.

We hope our little Fools Day upload wasn't such an earworm.

But yes, those were actual recordings of Minimax which we had saved from 2014, and those glitches weren't intentional.

Both versions are now up with with Romanian and Serbian tracks separated.

We're working on a little bumper restoration project, scouring through dozens of shows and clips.

We're down to three clips that are currently stumping us.

First is this elevator scene. there's no character appearences at all, just the doors closing, and the color yellow. It looks like something out of Hanna-Barbera, but we're unsure.

Next, Scooby Doo appears to sent himself flying. But from what episode? Is Scrappy involved in this??

And finally, what looks like Fred and Barney driving out a cave/tunnel. Yellow-ish background, green grass, and definitely Fred's car in the shot. Looks almost like a Season 1 episode, but we can't identify it.

If you happen to know any of these sources, let us know.

More images found from the short-lived Toonerang Magazine in the UK. Issue 4 has a Sylvester & Tweety comic, slong with a cut-out door hanger and profile page.

Magilla Gorilla is also featured on the front, but no further details
Apparently, this was for sale on eBay, but item is no longer listed.

Happy 25th Birthday to Boomerang UK. The channel launched on May 27th 2000, less that 2 months after the US.

Forgive me for the slow progress on these 2008 idents.
YouTube can only let you upload 10 videos a day.

Just need to point this all out to everyone. Please stop sending me messages asking for any specific content.

Videos are either planned or have already been uploaded. The compilations may be a little out of date, but I don't want to constantly reupload them for the sake of ONE ident found.

Outside of Boomerang, that video, along with those other bits, was everything I had recorded and saved on to a disc and nothing else. Therefore, I do not have any more continuity from POP or Tiny Pop.
