Hello friends! It's been a while since we've posted. So much has happened these last couple of months. The major event, however, is the addition of our baby boy, Oliver James, to our family. He is now 6 weeks old 🥰 When I found out I was pregnant with him, I knew he would need a name that started with the letter "O." For those who continue to follow us on this journey as our family grows, Thank you! I also post regularly on Instagram if you'd like daily/weekly updates. ALOHA!

Aloha🌺 friends!
We moved to Oahu! We arrived on April 3rd and got the keys to our new house a week later. We are super excited to live here for the next 3 years and explore the beautiful Hawaii.

Oshie would have loved it here. In fact, one of the many reasons I started the process of trying to get orders out here back in September 23' (I'm active duty Marine) was so that Oshie could spend time at the beach again. Sadly, our beautiful boy passed two weeks after I was told we'd been approved to move out here.

I wanted to announce our move out here by making sure Oshie and Gordie took a picture together again ❤️

Forever my favorite Mistletoe kiss. Oshie was pure Joy and to say that I miss him would be an understatement. I wish he'd come and say hello. It would be the best gift I could receive this Christmas.

Christmas this year looked a little different. Oshie used to love tearing his presents open and watching Christmas movies while we cuddled. This is the first one without him, and we miss him so much. Gordie and Sophia were happy this morning, though, which made us happy too 🩷

Our sweet Oshie crossed the rainbow bridge on Friday, 13 October 2023, after going into respiratory distress while on our way to Oceanside, CA.

We rented a pet friendly beach cottage on Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton from 13-16 October to spend a few days with Oshie & Gordie on the beach. But we never even made it into the water with him.

He panted pretty heavily for about 5 hours straight. By the time we got him to an Urgent Care, it was too late. The Vet said his temperature was 107°F when we arrived. It went up to 108° and then she got him down to 104°. She told us to prepare ourselves for potential brain damage and organ failure caused by his temperature. I told her to do every test and everything she possibly could to save him.

After doing everything she possibly could, she let all of us in the back room to see him. As soon as we walked in and saw Oshie laying on the table, I knew. I felt this incredible pain in my chest and knot in my throat that I've never felt before. I knelt down in front of him and said, "I'm so sorry, Oshie Boy. Mama is here." I saw his eyes move to look at me. But that was the only reaction we got from him. We all said our goodbyes. Gordie was with us, too.

I laid my head on Oshie and rubbed his belly and his side while the medication was administered, and then he was gone. Just like that. My Oshie Boy, the sweetest, most beautiful boy I've ever known, was gone. He didn't deserve to go like this.

Jesse and I still feel an immense amount of guilt. We should have brought him in sooner that day or never traveled. We just thought he was panting loudly like he always did. Every video I have of him shows him panting loudly. But, he always calmed down after a while. Not this time, though. We just never thought his panting combined with excitement would lead to his passing.

The Urgent Care Vet said he sounded like a dog with Laryngeal Paralysis when we first arrived. His regular Vet had told us 5 weeks earlier that she too believed he may have had Laryngeal Paralysis as-well. But, he was never officially diagnosed. His appointment with an Internal Medicine Specialist was scheduled for 19 October. We never made it.

Our beautiful Oshie Boy crossed the rainbow Bridge yesterday afternoon. He was only 9 years old. Our hearts are completely shattered. We miss him so much it hurts. We've never felt pain like this before 💔
