Why does a video about DIY have to do with my channel, my content — this theme of living abroad..?

Everything. I’ll tell you why.

Embracing my hobbies and interests was an essential step in feeling grounded, present and whole as a foreigner. Diving into my passions, working with my hands and making things that sparked my joy directly healed the directionless feeling I faced after months of being here.

I didn’t know what to do with myself. Keeping busy wasn’t enough. I needed to create and express myself in ways I would have naturally done in my home environment.

DIY flaxseed hair gel is such a simple thing. But it was a reminder to myself to play, be curious, and create home in a foreign place.

My many hobbies include; sourdough, baking & cooking, sewing, writing, reading, teaching, hosting, singing & movement 💕

That’s why the theme of my channel is actually “the diary of a foreigner” because truly I want to open up and share as much as I can about the real life flow of being abroad, missing home while creating another one, and learning who you are when all things familiar have been voluntarily taken away.
