I managed to get 20 watts out of a FRED modded RETEVIS MB64A by doing a solder MOD with a switch to turn the radio back to legal power . Once modded it will TX on 12m-11m and 10m Its a nice little radio with a decent M9 mic for £60, No SSB of course but you will pay an extra £100 for that. Video on Sunday. Just had this BEAST of a radio UV-25 Plus GPS in for testing. Maxes out at 12 watts and has a 5200Mah battery which gives it a run time of 15 hours on 5 watts. Has the very latest version menu system. Not yet supported on Chirp but as the older model is it wont be long. www.baofengradio.com/products/uv-25-plus

Have a great gadget in the shack this Sat. MINI SI4732 Pocket Radio from Banggood. Comes in at under £30 and receives pretty well. Hi all. Just to give you a preview of this weekend full video line up. Its not radio this weekend (yeah i know) but live steam instead. If you ever wanted a little steam engine as a kid you need to check out the amazing quality of the self build kits they are now producing in China. There will be a long detailed build video on Sat afternoon where i will build the steam engine from EngineDIY.com. Then on Sunday there will be a shorter video where i run the engine for the first time. Its great to be a kid once again. A radio related vid the week after. Have a great week and stay warm.
