Today Nevermind turns 30. On 09/24/1991 this album was released, an LP which would change my generation forever. I was just under 13 and had got a black Yamaha electric guitar with a single humbucker, a 15 watt Fender transistor amp and a Boss super over drive pedal. Then a few months later I changed it because the name was misleading (it didn't distort the sound like Kurt Cobain's) and I swapped it, without doing it on purpose, with Boss's overdrive / distortion, the very pedal that Cobain used. Anyways then I was unaware of it. There was no internet at all .... Nor social media and tutorials. I remember myself jumping on the bed with the guitar while doing the in Bloom’s intro in Bb very badly (a difficult key for an entry level), but that sound stirred up my soul.
Nirvana have always been one of my favorite bands and they have certainly affected my life. When some kid calls me a boomer I laugh about it, because being a Boomer but having lived the generation of Grunge and Cobain’s can’t swapped for anything.
Last year during the pandemic I recorded Nevermind from start to the end, all acoustically. And reverse, starting with Somerhing in the Way and ending with Smells like teen Spirit.
