I painted this…

I wanted to improve my painting skills and ended up challenging myself to paint flowers until they looked real.

Not the most definitive goal and i originally thought i should do 90 days, but after about 25 flowers, i felt like i was really getting the hang of it and wanted to expand.

But i told myself the minimum i would do was one month, invest my full effort into it, and see what comes out of it.

Turns out, you cant always rush art, so i ended up spending closer to 70 days to paint 30 flowers. Days 1-20 were all one day, the others 2-5 days (with this last one taking 12).

These definitely wont be my last flowers but i do plan to expand my work and continue creating whatever inspires me!

For my family, monarch butterflies symbolize
our late aunt who passed three years ago to a returning breast cancer. Ive never held strong opinions on life after death, but now every time i see one, i believe its her watching down on me, silently encouraging me to keep going, like she always used to.

Upon sharing this story, ive noticed the differences in each viewers interpretation of the butterfly. To most, it represents change, growth, evolution. But we all symbolize and interpret it differently in our self-reflection.

I want viewers to see the beauty in this piece, but also use it as a reminder to reflect on your journey, the ups and downs youve faced, those who have helped along the way and internalize the strength to always continue flying 🦋
